Elijah
We entered big house. My eyes wondered to the high ceiling, and open concept of the home that was infested with several busy teenage bodies. Some grinding on others, some drinking out of red solo cups, some bopping to music, some playing beer pong, some trying to yell over the loud music, some observing.
My ears did their best to conform to the high volume of blaring music.
"Ahh welcome to the wonderland of a high school party." Thea sang over the music while smiling. She grabbed my hand and pulled me through the sea of bodies to an unknown location.
As we traveled, we slowly started to gain attention. Little by little. It wasn't anything crazy but I wasn't generally used to having so many eyes on me. They were talking to one another, saying things that I couldn't make out over the music and so I walked with my shoulders back and inviting eyes. Maybe it was my hair, or my minimal makeup, or outfit. Either way I liked the attention, rather it was good or bad didn't matter because again I'm here for a good time not a long time.
Thea led me to the what looked like a lounge area where several people were sitting on the three couches in it. This area in particular reeked of weed and carried a blanket of smoke over it. The music wasn't as loud over here, you could hear yourself think surprisingly.
I looked at Thea with a raised eyebrow but before she responded a boy called her name and made his way to us from his seat on the couch. "Theadora, you made it! I didn't think you were coming." I had never seen him before, but that goes without saying. I eyed him as he hugged Thea. We were almost the same height, curtsy my long legs, a light brown hue tinted his skin, his hair was grew out and sat nappy on his head, he had a goatee that sat fully grown on his chin, and dark brown eyes the shifted to me after his hug with Thea. "And you got Elijah Reef to come. To my party!" He put his hand over his heart and smiled a goofy smile at me.
He said my name like I was famous or something. Maybe because I never go to parties. I'm surprised anyone would notice that though. I'm just one simple being within the large number of students that go to our school.
I laughed lightly, taking it as a complaint nonetheless.
"I'm Demetrius." He smiled, his eyes dancing across my body from head to toe.
"Nice to meet you," I waved shyly. "I'm Elijah, even though you clearly already knew that."
He shrugged, smirking in satisfaction after checking me out. "We've only been in the same English class for three years now."
Wow. That's ridiculous. How oblivious do you have to be to not realize you've been the same class with someone for three years. I knew the shock was written across my face once both Thea and Demetrius laughed at me.
"I'm sorry.." I started to apologize but he stopped me.
"It's fine. But now that we've met properly try not to forget me so easily, yeah?"
"Yeah." I nodded in agreement, actually cool with the offer. "And dope party by the way." I just said that because it seemed like the right thing to say, I haven't even been here long enough to know if the party was "dope".
"Thank you. There's drinks in the kitchen, you can help yourself." He pointed in the direction behind us. "And if you need anything I'll most likely be over here."
We bid farewells with Demetrius and I could literally feel his eyeballs burn holes as he watched my ass as we walked away. He seemed cool nonetheless, at least he didn't try to hit on me.
