The year was 2015.
It was almost over two years after Detective David Loki solved the case about the missing children in one of the county of Pennsylvania.
For around a week after he found Keller Dover (who was imprisoned in a concealed pit by a crazy maniac) and his child, the Conyers Police Station received flowers and letters from citizens of the county, for Detective Loki. Everyone he met at the streets gave him warm greetings. Some hot chicks gave him winks.
But the greetings and praises subsided. After about a month or so, it was as if nothing happened at all. Partially because people moved constantly and mainly because he was a natural snob. He was not used to that kind of attention.
The Dover family moved to New York. Detective Loki received a thanksgiving card from Mrs. Dover last year. But no longer the following year.
Everybody seemed to forget about him already. He remembered he received invites from the Pennsylvania Police Department (PPD) but he refused. Country life was enough for him. He did not want any more troubles.
He went back to his daily routine. Breakfast, sometimes none. Work. Lunch, sometimes none. Work. Home. Dinner, sometimes none.
He seldom drink alcohol and when he does, he did it alone. He had no personal relationship with anyone. At work maybe. But after work, the relationship ends. Everybody in the department respected him though. For he was hardworking and very professional and passionate on what he was doing.
He usually rendered overtime. He could not seem to finish the work even if there was no work to finish at all. He would go home only if he already needed to sleep and rest.
He lived about two miles away from the police station. He was renting a small single storey house. To a typical person, the house was small but for him he considered it as too big for him. He actually preferred a smaller place such as a studio-type flat but none was available. Besides, the rent was cheap so he settled for it.
Then an incident changed his life forever. It was a night in December. He was driving his car on a normal speed when a blue 1996 Toyota Corolla swerved into his lane. He angrily pressed his horn hard.
What the..! Jeez, the road was so wide and there were only two vehicles on the road. He thought.
The car was overspeeding but he did not care. It was past nine in the evening and he was tired to catch another violator. He lost sight of the car.
After a few minutes of driving, he noticed the blue car again, pulled over to the side, about fifteen yards in front of him. He slowed down and stopped. There was something unusual in that car. It was his instinct to search for his gun.
He opened his door and slowly walked towards the car. His gun was aimed forward for any surprises. The moonlight was not enough for him to see the driver of the car. Just when he was about to speak, the driver started the car and stepped on the gas. Speeding it's way to the blind curve ahead and to David's surprised, the car ran over the jersey barriers and crashed against a big tree. The headlights revealed a forest ahead.
He let out a deep sigh. He wished he had gone home earlier.
He went back to his car and radioed the police station for ambulance and back up.
