David instinctively held his hands up. Then slowly turned around to see the person with the gun. He was surprised to see an old man. Maybe in his sixties.
"Who are you?" The old man asked.
"I'm a detective. Detective Loki."
"What are you doing here, Detective?"
"I am looking for Sarah."
"She's not here. She and his brother Sean moved to the city."
"Which city?"
"Why would I tell you?"
The next thing, David was sitting on a couch of a small house near the auto shop. In the nearby sofa sat the old man. An old lady came from the kitchen and asked them to have their breakast at the dining table. The old man gestured to David to come and eat with them. They sat on the chairs surrounding the round table. David was hesitant but started sipping his coffee. He had not taken his breakfast yet.
"I saw your car over there. Timed you, then I decided to come in. I mean, what would take you so long in there? The shop's been closed for months." That was the old man.
"Why do they move? Seems to me they have a good business here." David asked the old man.
"Well, not really good. Just enough for them to live. But not beyond that Yeah...Sarah wanted more than that." The old man said sadly. Then he looked at David. "They gave up what their father left to them for something greener."
"Our sons used to work there at the motor shop. Now they have to find a work downtown." It was the old woman. Speaking but not looking at any of the two men.
"What about Sarah?" David asked the old woman.
"Sarah saw an opportunity. She met a rich man, the one who owned that shop now, we think he almost own everything in Texas, even its people. We are happy for her."
"The shop's been there since they were little. Their father was a mechanic too..they lost their mother when they were young. Sarah does all the women stuff, you know. Such a hard working girl. " The old man was chewing while talking.
"She might have gotten tired of living a hard life. She worked with her brother with the machine shop. But still pursued her dream of being a famous painter. There was a talk in town she let his brother sold this shop to that rich man so she can study in Rome." It was the old woman.
"I wonder how much this shop would sell though." David almost whispered.
"Not much. But Sarah was able to seduce the guy and got him to marry her." The old man seemed disappointed.
David's heartbeat stopped. So Sarah was indeed a married woman.
His wife interrupted the old man. "Seduce is not the right word, Frank. I still believe Sarah is a good girl and...attractive. No doubt why the man fell for her."
"Still the same, ends up the same." Frank said.
"But... Sarah is in danger." David said without hesitations.
The couple looked at each other.
"I do not know yet. But I saw a man hurt her. She was forced to come with him. And I need to save her. I need to know where she is now." David continued.
"Is it Antonio Madeira, the man you are referring to?" Frank asked. "Antonio Madeira is her husband. How are gonna you save her from her husband?"
"I am going to tell you this. Nobody meddle with Antonio. Or you are dead. If it's a lover's quarrel, I suggest you step back." Frank's voice was firm and threatening.
"You said you were from Pennsylvania, how was it again that you were you able to meet Sarah?" The old lady gave her a confused look.
"It was a long story." David said.
"Are you in love with her?" Frank asked.
David was silent.
"Oh boy, go finish your food and get home. That ain't going anywhere. Go away now while you can. You do not know who you are dealing with."
David looked at Frank's wife. The old lady nodded in agreement.
