CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

“So. You two, are good?” Louis said, looking up from his spot on the couch.

I giggled. “Yes, Lou, we're good.”

“Excellent. Well, I'm going out with El. Zayn and Harry are back at the flats, they figured you would need some time alone.” He finished with a wink.

I blushed. “Thanks Lou.” I said, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

He nodded and smiled slightly as he left.

LOUIS' POV

No matter how happy I am for her, I wish he would have left.

Don't get me wrong, I like Joel. It's just that I have this strange feeling that Malorie doesn't really love him.

And I also have a strange feeling that Malorie might love a certain Irish gentlemen.

MALORIE'S POV

Joel and I laughed and talked about random things as we curled up on the couch together. Lindsey was out, so we took advantage of the empty house.

I laid my legs across his lap and sighed, leaning back on the couch.

“We need to talk about what we're going to do.” I mumbled.

“I know.” He said, rubbing my legs.

He gently caressed my thighs, rubbing slowly up and then down. It felt nice, especially since my legs were smooth. I let my breathing slow and relaxed a bit.

“Do you love me Mal?” Joel asked out of the blue, after minutes of silence. “Truthfully.”

I opened my eyes and looked at him, registering the hopeful and loving look in his eyes. But I didn't know what to say.

“Joel, you know I love you. I just think, that at this point, the question we need an answer to is, how much do I love you.” I said quietly. I fiddled with my thumbs and waited for his reply. He was quiet for a minute.

“How about we start over? We can go on dates, and if the spark is still there, then we'll know the answer. But if it isn't, then we'll both know why it didn't work. No hard feelings.” He proposed.

I nodded. “That, my dear Joel, sounds great.” I winked, smiling.

He grinned. “So how's about we go to dinner tonight?” He asked hopefully. “Of course, that is if the boys don't mind...” He added as an afterthought.

I leaned forward, swinging my legs underneath me. Taking his face in both of my hands, I gently made him look at me. “Joel, I'm your girlfriend, they can get over it.” I said, leaning my head down toward his.

Right before our lips met, he held a finger up against my lips. “You're really going to kiss me before we even go on our first date?” He said.

I giggled. “You're such a tease, Joel. Oh well, I guess I can wait.” I added seductively, getting up and walking away to my room smoothly.

Before I turned the corner, I looked back at him and winked. He blushed furiously and still managed a grin.

We decided that Joel would get a hotel room for the time being. Things were looking up, but we weren't at the same point we were. It would only be awkward right now to sleep in the same bed.

As I got ready, I thought of all the wonderful times I had shared with Joel. I remembered the first time I told him I loved him.
