CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

HARRY'S POV

I walked quickly over to the trashcan, dumping my empty Starbuck's cup inside. Lindsey was still sitting in the same spot, smiling at something in the distance as her vibrant orange finger nails clutched her own cup.

"Ready love?" I asked the sweet brunette. It really does hurt me inside to see such a girl, so sweet, kind and forgiving, in so much pain.

She thinks I don't see it, but I do. I know Malorie doesn't, but I think it's only because Malorie's life isn't so great either right now.

"Of course, one second." She said, smiling that beautiful bright smile of hers.

I watched as she walked over to a little girl, standing alone. She looked disoriented, a frantic look on her face as she cried silently.

"Darling, have you lost your mum?" Lindsey asked, crouching next to the girl.

She nodded, clutching her rough, tattered stuffed giraffe in one hand. "Well then let's go find her, shall we?"

Lindsey grabbed the little girl's hand and led her over to mall security. "Sir, this little girl's lost her mum." She stated.

"Thank you ma'am, I'll take her and make an announcement." The man said.

"Right. Well, actually. Would you mind giving me one minute with her?" Lindsey asked.

The man looked skeptical for a moment before slowly nodding. As Lindsey led the girl to an ice cream parlor, his eyes never left her and the little girl.

I watched with the most heartfelt grin on my face as Lindsey helped the little girl pick out a flavor of ice cream. Soon they were walking back, and Lindsey whispered something to the man before he nodded once more.

Lindsey and the little girl walked over to me. "Harry, meet Annabella. Annabella, meet Harry." Lindsey said, introducing the little girl to me. I smiled warmly and got eye level with the little girl.

"It's lovely to meet you Annabella." I said, stretching my hand out to give hers a little shake.

"Hi, Haiwy." She said in her adorable tiny accent.

I chuckled. "Would you like to sit with Lindsey and I until we find your mum?" I offered.

She smiled brightly and nodded. I grinned, picking her up and setting her on the bench between Lindsey and I.

I looked over at the green-eyed girl and couldn't help but think about how wonderful she really is. She truly doesn't deserve any pain.

Later, after we finally found Annabella's mum, and after a million thank you's and tears, and quite a few pictures and such, I laid on my bed and had a sudden realization.

Being with Lindsey, made me forget all about my issues with Malorie.

And, I like it that way.

LINDSEY'S POV

I couldn't get my mind off Harry, but mainly the way that he had looked at me today. I mean, I won't be arrogant but he had this, this emotion behind that twinkle in his eyes that made me want to know more.

Something told me that no matter what happens now, I won't have to worry about the same feelings of dissapointment.

"Lindsey?" Taylor's voice called from outside my door.

I got up and walked over, opening the door with a grin. I gawked at how gorgeous Taylor looked, Ran really was a lucky guy.

"Hey, Taylor. Going somewhere fancy?" I asked, leaning against the doorframe.

She giggled. "Yeah, Ryan and I are going for dinner."

"Ah, I see. Would you like me to give Mal a message?" I asked.

"That would be awesome. I don't know where she is, probably with Niall or something, but I need you to tell her that Rye and I won't be back until late tonight. My crazy man's got something outrageous planned." She said, rolling her eyes. Her emerald green dress swooshed as she shrugged.

"Lucky girl." I said, winking.

"I guess you could say that. He's a handful, Ryan is." She said. I smiled and pulled her in to a hug.

"Have fun tonight!" I said.

She smiled and mouthed a thank you as she and Ryan walked out the door.

"And there Lindsey stood, alone in the apartment once again, her friends as they're called all out and about." I muttered to myself.

I sat on the couch, flipping on the television. I smiled as I realized that the music channel was on, and the boys' music video for Live While We're Young was playing.

"That's the one I'm proudest of."

I jumped, falling off the couch in the process.

Liam chuckled. "Not funny." I mumbled.

Not that anyone really new this, but Liam and I are actually good mates. We talk quite a bit, and on occasion I've gone out with him and Danielle to eat. One time we even went to a music festival.

"Popcorn and a movie?" I said. He nodded and I smiled. I pat his back and then went to the kitchen to make the popcorn.

"Where's Max?" I asked.

"He's crashed at my flat." Liam said from the living room.

"Ah. I see." I said. I pulled the popcorn from the microwave and poured it in to a giant bowl.

I plopped down on the couch next to Liam and placed the bowl between us. "What's the movie?" I asked.

He blushed. "Toy Story." He admitted.

"Are we back to that? Here I was thinking you had matured, Li." I said, laughing. He smirked.

"What's it now?" I asked, giving him a wary sidelong glance.

"I'm not immature!" He pouted. I held back a grin, but then shrieked as he lunged at me.

"Liam!" I said, laughing like crazy as he pinned me down and tickled me.

"Say it. Say, 'Liam is the most mature man in the world.'" He said evilly.

"Fine!" I screamed, writhing around on the floor as he continued to tickle me. "LIAM PAYNE IS THE MOST MATURE MAN IN THE WORLD." I yelled, gasping for air.

"Very nice." He said as he released me.

"Jerk." I said, smiling.

"You love me." He said.

"Hm, that just might be debatable." I said, winking at him.

I sat back down on the couch as Liam laughed. Munching on my popcorn, I looked at Liam as he set up the movie.

"Ready?" He asked, sitting next to me and balancing the popcorn bowl on both of our knees. I smiled.

"Yeah."

AAAHHH SO . I've been busy. My grades are suffering. I know it's REALLY short AND you don't get to see what happens with Mal and Niall yet but you will soon find out. AND NO LIAM AND LINDSEY ARE NOT FLIRTING THEY'RE BEST MATES OKAY.
