"Ready?"

Niya turned to her half-saiyan friend, Trunks. "Hm? Oh, yeah, sure!" she nodded with a smile.

Trunks stared at her for a moment. "You don't have to go. I can ask about your Mom's medicine, too," he assured.

"But I want to go," Niya insisted. "I'm okay. Really!" She smiled brighter. "I'm just wondering how everyone will be. I mean, we get to see Bulma when she was young... younger!" she corrected herself when Bulma crossed her arms at her. "We get to see Gohan when he was little, you get to meet your Dad, and-- and we get to meet the Goku! I mean, how exciting, right?"

"Ah, well, sure," Trunks was a bit surprised at her response and scratched his head. "I'm glad you're not worried, then."

"Worried? Why would I be worried?" Niya asked.

Trunks gestured his head towards Capsule Corporation next to them. "And about the chance of--"

"Everything will be fine," Bulma interrupted, assuring them. "It'll be just a short visit to the Past. I'm sure the Androids won't show up, and Niko and Noemi will be just fine. Okay?"

The saiyans shared a look before nodding.

"Yeah. It will," Niya then smiled.

Bulma smiled at them before bringing them both in for a hug. "Alright, you two. Get going before the kids make their way over here," she patted their backs before pulling away.

"Right," Trunks and Niya smiled.

There Trunks and Niya stood, gazing upon the mighty Frieza and what was now confirmed as his father, the giant King Cold. Trunks sparked some arrogant conversation which Niya didn't pay attention to. Instead she stared at the mostly mechanical Frieza, studying and thinking.

So, this is who tried to kill my parents and the Saiyans, Niya thought, trying to let those words sink in. It was strange to see the tyrant in person. Her parents had told her how much they endured under Frieza's rule, and Bulma had told her about what happened on Planet Namek. He was absolutely ruthless and slaughtered without the slightest hesitation.

Although she tried to contain it, she felt her anger rising.

As if sensing the fire building inside her, Frieza turned his beady, red eyes to her. He didn't seem phased, but he was when he noticed a curious, shimmering thing around her neck.

"That jewel," Frieza began, silencing everyone, "it belonged to a special kind of saiyan." The air grew thin around them, making Niya and Trunks tense up. Frieza then smirked, "Ah, yes, I remember now. The Ayatan Saiyans. And not just any, you're a member of the Royal Family."

When Niya flinched, Frieza chuckled. He continued to study her, "You're not Makona, no. You must be her brat, aren't you?"

Why was Niya's heart racing? She was strong enough to beat him. So why? Was it because he was trying to make her fear him? She then felt the Red Jewel grow warm against her neck. It remembered him. It had been afraid before.

Niya wrapped a hand over the Red Jewel, feeling it burn her palm. "Yes," she answered, then firmer, "Yes. That's who I am."

Frieza narrowed his eyes, and King Cold was surprised.

"The Ayatan Saiyans were said to have been exterminated by the Mektanians," King Cold frowned.

"Clearly, that was not the case," Frieza stared at Niya before glaring. "We'll just have to take her prisoner to find the rest of the Ayatan Saiyans and exterminate them ourselves once and for all."
