Niya stood still and tense as well as the others around her. They all felt uneasy at Cell's strength and skill, which seemed to be greater than Goku's.
Come on, Goku! You can beat Cell! You have to! Niya thought.
In the arena, the two fighters were moving at incredible speeds. They clashed blows, struck against the ground, creating explosions. The very air and ground shook at their epic battle.
It was apparent, however, that Cell had the advantage. He was quick on his feet on the offense, striking at Goku, but only barely missing. Goku was struggling as he pushed his speed to dodge Cell's attacks. Every now and then, Cell would catch the saiyan and give him a good pummeling before they would take off teleporting across the arena.
They moved so quickly and harshly, that they lifted up clouds of dust at every blow and impact to the ground. Their speed and skills seemed to be - unfortunately - on par.
Niya watched tensely and bit her thumb as she followed with her eyes.
"Wow, they're fast!" Krillin commented. "Look at 'em go!"
Niya saw her husband and brother tense next to her, as well as her father-in-law. That was not a good sign. Did the performance in front of them mean that Goku wouldn't be strong enough to win? That Cell would come out victorious?
The humans on the side were completely taken aback, speechless by the fight. The announcer even commented that they were moving faster than the human eye could see! It seemed that they had greatly underestimated the fighting capabilities of Cell and Son Goku.
Suddenly, Cell zoomed down, and Goku barely managed to block with his palm, but he skidded back from the immense power of Cell's fist. Then, Cell used his other hand to drive a hard punch into the saiyan's face. The bio-engineered Android, seeing he had Goku where he wanted him, threw a flurry of punches to the saiyan's face, pushing him back with each malicious strike. Goku at last escaped his clutches when he ducked for an attack and kicked Cell up high in the air.
The saiyan jumped back and pushed off the ground to teleport behind his opponent before he could recover. But when he struck for a punch, his fist phased through. Goku was taken aback.
He could then sense Cell make a move from behind him and phased out of the way. The two fighters went back and forth in the same maneuver, darting across the sky in incredible speeds, just barely dodging each other.
Niya stared in awe of the fighters. They were so strong and skilled, it was almost impossible to believe the sight before her eyes. Although worry was welling up inside her, she felt her excitement bubbling. Her tail began to slightly loosen around her waist.
The fighters made a hard stop in the sky when Goku drove his knee hard into Cell's stomach. His eyes almost went completely white as he retched from the critical blow. Being in control, Goku brought down his fist, but missed when Cell teleported himself free. The Android countered with an elbow to Goku's back, creating space between them.
Goku managed to catch himself and snarled at the vile creature. He was slightly panting as they stopped to stare at each other.
"Not a bad fight, Goku," Cell admitted with a pleased smile, "Perhaps you are worthy of fighting a warrior of my supreme stature."
"Oh boy!" Goku said sarcastically, staring hard.
"Too bad all the fights won't be this good," Cell commented. "Now, let us continue."
From beside him, Kusuke leaned to ask Gohan quietly, "What do you think of the fight so far?"
Gohan kept his green cyan eyes to the sky, focused on his father and the ruthless Android. "It's close," he replied.
