On My Own: Summer Vacation a Diggy Simmons Love Story

Chapter 1: School's Out

Elana P.O.V

It was 1:32pm and school was going to be out soon. Summer Vacation started as soon as the bell rang. I listened in the lecture the teacher gave about her memories of the school year and how safe we should be this summer. No one was going to follow the rules anyway so I don’t know why she wastes her breath.

“Okay class, I want you to write what you want to do this summer.” She said as she wrote the writing topic on the board.

I picked up my lead pencil and looked down at the blank sheet of lined paper in my note book. I pressed the lead pencil against the paper and started to write:

“This summer, I want to visit my mother’s grave. It’s been a very long time since I went. I would also like to spend time with my friends including a special love interest.”

I looked up at Daniel as I wrote that last part. He was scribbling away. Why do I have a feeling he writing something way off the topic? I smiled and continued writing.

“Other than spending time with friends, I plan to spend time by myself; just to think any problem that I have I face this summer. That’s what I want to do.”

I wrote my name and tore it out the notebook. Everyone was nearly done. I looked around the classroom once more before the teacher spoke again.

“Okay Josh, let me see what you wrote.” She said.

“Well I said I was going to party with a bunch of hot chicks.” He said grinning hard.

“I know that’s right.” All the boys said.

The teacher rolled her eyes and sat on the desk.

“Well what about you Daniel?” She refocused.

“I want to go in the studio put out a few tracks then go make out with my girl. Then I’m going to party it up and pass out then wake up and make out with my girl again.” He laughed causing everyone else to die of laughter.

“Well Mr. Simmons, I feel bad for your girlfriend. I highly doubt she would want to do that all summer.” She said seriously.

Everyone including Diggy looked at me and started laughing more.

“I’m pretty sure she’s cool with it.” He said adjusting his watch and showing confidence with his smile.

She fixed her glasses and turned away from Diggy annoyed. She looked at me. The class was still laughing but quieter.

“What about you Elana?” She smiled.

“I want to visit my mom’s grave” I announced making the whole room quiet.

Daniel got serious and paid attention to me.

“Then I want to spend time with my friends and go to parties; just have fun you know. Hang out with my mom too.” I said with I slight grin.

“Wait I thought she was dead.” My teacher questioned confused.

“My biological mother is…but my guardian is basically my second mom.” I said feeling super uncomfortable.

“Oh continue.” She said feeling so stupid.

“I’m going to spend some time alone and most importantly spend time with that special someone who I fell in love with last summer.” I smiled as everyone awed. Diggy started to blush and looked at his notebook.

“Well Elana it sounds like you’re going to have fun this summer. I didn’t know you had a boyfriend. I would love to meet him. He must be smart and self controlled just like you.” She said.
