Chapter 37: Chris

Diggy P.O.V

~~~At the doctor’s office the next day

I waited for the doctor to call my name.  I was anxious to get them out. I worked so hard to get released early and getting better. On top of that I have to get back to the home front quickly. I don’t want everyone to leave since I worked hard planning it but if they must then so be it. The objective of this vacation was to have fun but it was just a mini plan for the plan I have for Elana.

“Mr. Simmons.” The nurse called.

I raised a finger and stood up. She lead me to the doctor’s office.

“Change into this gown and the doctor will be right with you.” She handed me the polka dot gown before leaving.

The door closed and I quickly changed into the gown. My skin felt the cold air for a brief second before being warmed by the gown. I sat there patiently waiting for the doctor to come in and when he did; nervousness seeped through my body.

“Okay Mr. Simmons you ready for the removal?” He asked.

“Yes.” I laid down on the padded table.

I closed my eyes as he lifted my gown to start the process. My body started to tense up as his glove stroked the first stitch.

“Relax Mr. Simmons. It shouldn’t hurt too badly.” He tried to calm me.

I relaxed and he started removing my stitching. The tugging and pulling on my side was uncomfortable. He continued pulling the stitching away until he suddenly stopped.

“I’m sorry Mr. Simmons but it looks like you’re not fully healed. I can’t tell if your skin is still sensitive or your wound is still part way open.” He explained.

I sighed. “What does that mean?”

“You won’t be leaving so soon until we run some more tests and make sure everything is fine.” He grabbed his clipboard and wrote down some notes.

He then closed up my remaining stitches and left me to change. As I put on my clothes I was angry. I tied my shoes and waited for the doctor once more. He came back in and patted my shoulder. “I know your upset Daniel but it’s for your health. Have a better day.”

I left his office and went back to my room. I had a big chip on my shoulder. I flopped down on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. My cellphone vibrated and I answered it hearing the one voice I didn’t want to hear on the other line; Elana.

“Hey babe.” I responded back.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

“Nothing it’s nothing.” I lied. “Look I might be out of town longer than I expected.”

“Aw Dig are you serious? You didn’t even tell me why you leave. You just leave and now you staying longer? What are you doing out there?” She questioned.

“Handling business okay?” I started to get stern with her.

“Business? You told me you were going to be business free until we got back Dig. So what are you actually doing?” She irritated me.

“Audrey! I told you I’m on business so drop it!” I sat up.

“Drop it? With you yelling at me like that? No I’m not. You don’t have to get all suspicious like you cheating or something.” She responded.

“You have nerve to be talking about cheating because this is all your fault.” I yelled.

“My fault? Well if you were a better boyfriend at the time maybe I wouldn’t have met Jionni!” I heard her voice crack.
