STILL CONNER'S P.O.V.

If I had known that this was going to be the longest night of my life, I would NOT have accepted the job. Laken's snores sound like she's a fucking hippo devouring another hippo. I have felt the urge to throw a stick at her for the past 2 and a half hours. Lainey has been sleeping like a quiet angel. No sounds besides her peaceful breathing have come out of her mouth. She's so beautiful when she's asleep. Is that weird that I think that? Since i've only known her for a few hours? Or is that normal? Ughhhh. Conner get your head together.

The next few hours were just as painful as the first. How long can this night go on? Jesus Christ. I can't stop thinking about Lainey. I know it's creepy thinking about her so much after knowing her for such a short period of time, but I mean she's stuck in my mind like glue. And her sleeping a few feet away from me is NOT helping me much. Is it bad I just want to wrap my arms around her waist and rest my head on her shoulder? I get goosebumps just from thinking about it. What am I supposed to do? I mean if I sleep, walkers could come and eat us, or WORSE I could dream about Lainey. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would be in heaven if I dreamed about her, but I need to stop thinking about her in a romantic way. I bet she lost a boyfriend to this stupid plague. God, why am I so stupid? I should have thought about that before I even thought about her. Get her out of your head Conner.

It's almost sunrise! Thank GOD! I don't I could last any longer with Laken's hippo noises and thoughts about Lainey. Just another couple of hours. I hope I can survive that long. Lainey starts tossing and turning in her sleep as if she's having a bad dream. She lets out a quiet whimper and I have to dig my nails into my thighs to keep myself from wrapping my arms around her. I lean my head back against the tree and let out a groan. How am I supposed to resist her when she's awake if I can't even resist her when she's sleeping!? Lord help me.

Sunrise finally. I begin to whistle The Hunger Games tune as I get up to wake everyone. I shake Laken awake and she nearly kicks me where the sun doesn't shine. I turn to wake up Lainey also, but she's no where to be found.

"LAINEY?!" I call, turning back to Laken to ask her.

She just shrugs and cracks a smile. I immediately get suspicious. But it's too late because I hear something sounding like a battle cry behind me, just as something latches itself onto my back. I'm nearly knocked down, but I regain my balance quickly. I laugh as I shake furiously, trying to shake the little ninja off my back. I hear her struggling to breath as she laughs. Eventually she gives up and falls off my back, still in a fit of laughter. I look down at her rolling around in the dirt laughing and can't help but grin like an idiot. The happy moment is over when we hear a voice coming from the tied up stranger,

"Well, glad to see some people are enjoying this death plague."
