"Lainey, Lainey, Lainey, you shouldn't have tried to steal my last precious cow," that bastard repeats again.
"How the hell do you know my name?" I ask frustrated.
"You really don't remember me Lai?" he looks at me with those wide green eyes and i suddenly remember.
My dead best friend.
"A-alex?" i stutter unsure if i'm going crazy or not.
"Hey love." he says and before he can take another breath i have my arms around him, hugging the crap out of him.
"I thought you were DEAD. what happened? I watched you die with my own eyes. I saw it!! How come you never tried to find me?! I missed you so much. How could you leave me like that?! You have no idea how much pain i was in when i thought you DIED." I ramble on as tears collect in my eyes. He wraps his arms around me and runs his fingers through my hair like old times.
"I'm so sorry Lainey, I didn't want to leave. But our group threatened to kill you. They said that if i didn't leave, then they would kill you and make me watch. I couldn't let that happen. And i knew if we tried to run away then we would run out of necessities." he says quietly.
"Don't ever leave me like that again." i say against his shirt.
"I won't, love. I won't."
~2 weeks later~
It's been two weeks since i found out that my best friend, Alexander, was still alive. For almost a year i thought he had died from suicide. I thought he killed himself because of me. I thought he was unhappy with his life and wanted to end all his pain and suffering. But really, he was just protecting me. He saved me from being killed by the group that i thought was protecting us both. Everything is not always what it seems.
Alexander went out to hunt for a while, so i decide to relax for a while. I lay back on my bed and blow out the candles on my nightstand. Just as i start to drift off, i hear a crash somewhere in the house. I pick up one of my pistols and walks slowly towards where i heard the crash. I round the corner and aim at the dark shape standing in the middle of the kitchen, 'til i realize it's just Alexander.
"Jesus Christ Alexander. You scared the crap out of me," i say as i wrap my arms around his waist from behind.
"I'm not Alexander sweetheart," a voice even deeper than Alexander's says.
I jump back and come face to face with someone i hoped to never see again.
Sorry for the short chapter! but most of my chapters will be like this! xD
