Here I am, sitting on the same exact stump I've been sitting on for the past 4 hours. The sun is just now setting, but it seems like everyone was so tired that they just passed out when their heads hit the pile of leaves. I say 'pile of leaves' because I don't see any pillows in this forest so we had to make do with what we had. Not that it really mattered to me since I had to sit on this stump the entire night. Like how am I supposed to stay up all night? I can't believe they expect me to do this.
My back hurts. I stand up and bend back, hearing and feeling the cracking of my back. Ooooooh much better. I don't want to sit back down on that damn stump. Let's just lay down on the soft ground. Hint the sarcasm. I wish I could just stumble across a tempurpedic mattress out here. Why did this plague have to ruin everything?! God dammit.
I lay down and look through the trees up to the evening sky. A slight breeze blows through the forest as I close my eyes to appreciate the peace and quiet. I inhale deeply and hear rustling behind me. My eyes shoot open and I squat, swinging my leg out and knocking them down.
I hear a quiet, "Omph." And stands up, turning back to the intruder.
"Conner! What the hell?" I say, seeing his dark eyes with the dying light of the sun.
"I was just going to sit next to you..." He says with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
I suddenly realize what his actual plan was and look at him, "You were gonna scare me weren't you?!"
He looks at me with an innocent look and smirks, "Maaaaybe. Maybe Not.."
I shove him playfully and laugh as he falls back. He props himself up on his elbows and looks up at me with a grin.
I step back cautiously as he stands up, walking towards me. My back hits a tree behind me, causing me to jump slightly. He chuckles and keeps walking towards me. He gets close enough to touch and I decide to mess with him. I twirl my body around the tree so I'm behind it and I peek my head out from behind it, trying to control my laughter. He bursts into laughter and leans his hands against the tree as he leans towards me. I snort and switch sides, so I'm looking at his back instead of his face. I run farther into the forest and hide behind the thickest tree I can find.
"Laineyyyy. Come out come out where ever you are!" I hear his voice say a few feet from where I am.
I gasp at how close he is and clamp my hand over my mouth quickly. I don't hear anything anymore, so I peek out from behind the tree. I don't see him anywhere so I step away from the tree, only to be pulled right back. But instead of hitting the tree I am pulled against a soft surface. I look up and see Conner starring down at me with those eyes. He smiles down at me and pulls me against him more so his back is against the tree and I'm against him. I flush and look away quickly.
His hand goes under my chin and turns my face towards his again. I'm trapped in his grip, but I realize I don't want to get out of it. I look up at him and he looks down at me. He wraps him arms around my waist and I wrap my arms around his neck as he crashes his lips to mine, but not forcefully. Gently. Our lips move in sync and I find my fingers playing with his shaggy brown hair.
We break apart and lean against each other. My legs feel like jelly, so I lean heavily on him. He looks down at me and smiles huge. I feel my blush creep up my face and smile shyly back up at him. I'm just about to say something to him, but something stops me.
A scream for help.
