(A/N: For the record, Lena's name is pronounced Le (like let)-Na (like nap). Not Leena, not Lenar, Lena. Also, fun fact, Lena is actually short for Elena-Rose :))))))))

Also, Machiavellian is pronounced mac-ee-a-vel-ian [even I didn't know this and had called him MARK-avelian for about 3 months]

K rant over, enjoy the chapter!)

Lena was tired. The Machiavellian case was driving her insane. After the fight with The Red Hawk, the assassin hadn't been active at all. On top of that, Klaus was in a coma and TJ had blatantly refused to leave him, leaving no Red Hawk either. The police captain understood TJ's feelings, but he should understand how important his position was as well.

She twirled her braid between her fingers.

Suddenly, there was a knock on her office door.

"Come in!"

Jess's blonde head poked in from behind tho door.

"Hey love." She said. Lena smiled.

"Hey, come in before Laurens sees you!" Lena responded. Jess smiled before stepping into the office, closing the door behind her, making sure Constable 'Little' Laurens (as named by the staff after his whopping height of 1m 50cm) wouldn't see.

"How are you?" Jess asked. Lena slumped back on her chair.

"A little tired." Lena answered. Jess smiled reassuringly before approaching the police captain's desk, leaning on it with one hand.

"You wanna talk about it?" She asked. Lena twisted her plait again.

"Well, it's police stuff. And an ongoing case, but if you promise not to tell anyone..." Lena said, looking up at her girlfriend through her lashes. Jess smiled.

"I promise." Jess stated. Lena nodded.

"Basically, since the battle with The Red Hawk, Machiavellian kinda disappeared. None of the agents we put into the criminal trades have seen or heard from him. It's like he just vanished." Lena explained. Jess cocked her head.

"Is that a bad thing?" She asked. Lena rubbed the back of her neck.

"Yes, and no. Because of his disappearance, the threat of another major crime involving him has gone down, however, it makes it harder for us to catch him." Lena sighed. Jess nodded, knowing how important this case was to Lena.

"I understand. You want me to get you a coffee?" Jess offered. Lena smiled.

"Actually, my shift is almost over. Wanna come over to mine?" Lena responded. Jess smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, ok."

So Lena finished off the last of the paperwork while Jess waited, looking at the posters, awards and certificates that adorned the walls. She let out a small chuckle.

"Watcha laughing at?" Lena asked, eyes still on the paperwork. Jess turned to her.

"You really have a 'Inspector No Brain' poster? It's a kid show!" Jess questioned, amused. Lena laughed.

"Police inside joke. We aren't all humourless idiots here you know." Lena answered. Jess chuckled again.

"I know."

The girls smiled at each other lovingly.

The two had been on multiple dates since they met at the hospital, with Jess eventually asking Lena to be her girlfriend a month later. Many of their dates consisted of coffee shops and cinema trips. Their relationship was built on those beautiful quiet moments that only made the two love each other more.

It took another 10 minuets for Lena to finish up, and once she did, she and Jess walked hand in hand to the car park.

(A/N: Hello everyone. I'm sorry this chapter is so short, it really is just a filler chapter because I have the biggest fucking writers block.)
