Today is the day of the contest, Which is very nerve wrecking, but luckily I memorized all my pieces, and was pretty much ready for the whole thing, but of course that doesn't stop the voices from down grading me, "hey are you ready?" My father asked, putting on his tie, "kinda ... this is a lot to take in," I told him, as I took a seat on the couch, "don't worry too much sweet heart, I know you'll do great out there, so what song you guys playing?" My father asked, now putting on his shoes, "Devil's Trill, it's at least 16 minutes long," I replied, feeling my nerves calming down, but it was time for us to head out.
We soon left, taking us over 30 minutes to find the place, I got out the car along side my father, and followed other men and women inside the building, "good luck sweet heart, I hope your school wins," he said, giving me a kiss on the forehead, before following the other parents; I followed the signs into the back, finally seeing a familiar face, "hey Jordan!" I called out, getting his attention, "oh hey Tala, glad you made it," Jordan said with a wide smile, showing me where our room is, "oh good, that's the last of us, we are number 10 out of 14 schools, so do your best, we really need this," Mr. Rogers said, helping the other students tune, "we are literally the odd balls, so we need to do this right, so try your best to not to mess up, so practice till it's our time," he continued, now helping me tune my strings.
We started practice, waiting patiently for us to go next, but I was still unsure, I was afraid, I was afraid of messing up our chances, but I continued practicing.
It was finally time for us now, starting to set up our stands on stage before the curtain rises.
Thump
'Come on ... calm down'
Thump
'Breathe ... just breathe'
Thump Thump
'I-I can't do this'
Thump Thump Thump
'I'm going to fail'
Thump Thump Thump ... Thump!
'I can't...'
I stopped myself from getting up, wondering what the hell is wrong with me, 'what am I doing, if I leave then we'll be disqualified, and I can't let that happen, we worked so hard' I thought, putting my chin on the chin rest; the curtain rose up, and the audience let out a roar of claps and shouts when they saw us; we waited for everyone to settle down, as we recollect ourselves, as Mr. Rogers walked out on stage, taking a bow, "we will be performing Devil's Trill, enjoy!" He announced before facing us, baton in hand, then we beginned.
At first I was a bit shaky, but after awhile I started getting into it, letting the music take over, making me fill whole, as we played, I wanted everyone to see we have what it takes, and that we'll do whatever it takes.
Jacky-
My heart was beating so fast as I watched them, as I watched Tala, I was completely into it, I only cared about her, and how amazing she looks, finally seeing her play, feeling tears welling up.
Tala -
We are on the last measure, and I was beyond tired, wanting to just drop and pass out, but kept going till the last note, everyone was silent for awhile, but the theater soon roared awe as we took our final bow and left the stage, "we did great, now we can only wait, so relax everyone," Mr. Rogers said, giving all of us a hug, as we went back to our room to away our instruments.
I left out of the room, surprised to see Jacky waiting by the door,"Jacky? What are you doing back here?" I asked, but she pushed me against the wall and kissed me; the kiss was short but sweet, "sorry, I couldn't help it," she whispered, face red, "don't worry, I really wanted that," I said, giving her a peck, "your performance was outstanding, I was literally in tears," she told me, backing up a bit, "how about we go watch the other schools," I said, taking her hand in mines, "Ok, but let's go to the far back, sadly my parents came along," she said, leading the way back to the Auditorium.

Everyone was now on stage, waiting for the judges to settle, "Ok, the judges are now ready!" The announcer shouted, getting out three envelopes, "ok ... in first place is ... Saint John's Academy!" and the crowd went wild, but that only made my stomach twist in knots, "in second place is ... West Bay High!" He continued, making me tear up in happiness, "dude ... we did it!" Jordan whispered yelled in my ear, as our stepped next to other group, "and but not least is Bellmore High!" He finished, throwing the envelopes, as everyone stood and clapped for us and the other groups, "that's all folks, thank you for coming, this was surely a great night, so have a great night," the man finished, laughing at his mishap.
I ran to my dad, giving him a big hug, "we did it! I can't believe we did it," I cried, hugging him harder, "I'm so proud of you, tonight I'm you your favorite tonight," he said before letting me go, walking out of the theater together.
