I looked between my four friends.

Well three because Shawnette had gotten on my couch, laid out, put her headphones in and said "Fuck it."

Her and I had been trying to mediate this issue that Tish and Gil have with Tina. It hasn't went well thus far, and now they've been arguing for a total of 26 minutes. Yes, I've been counting.

Tina looked at me. "Janet, tell them to chill out, it wasn't even that serious!"

"Big Bird, did you or did you not say that our shit was outdated?" Gil glared her down.

"Watch it Lightskin Ken." Tina challenged him. "I said what I said. It ain't changing over here."

Gil rolled his eyes. "Okay Nene Jr, well what you said was some bullshit!"

"Janet, did you like the new choreo?" Tina asked me and Tish and Gil looked at me waiting for my answer.

"Yeah." I nodded slightly. "It was nice, but some parts weren't my style. Or the kids styles."

"Had em looking like they were on some damn monkey bars." Tish commented and Gil clapped.

"Thank you!" Gil exclaimed as Tina rolled her eyes.

I sighed. "Look, I changed it back. I made that call from a non bias point of view. So let's just drop it please."

They all went to object but Shawn yanked the earphones out her ear suddenly. "Look, shut that shit up. If y'all wanna argue go to the back yard or something. I'm trynna chill and y'all on that uh uh."

Gil smacked his lips. "Shut up you bald headed Mary J. Blige, we gone go, but not cause you said so. We going cause I'm not done with this damn conversation."

All 3 of them stood up and walked out of my home and into the back yard.

"You're a life saver, Shawn. Thank you." I thanked her as my phone buzzed.

Wanna catch lunch? My treat.

"No problem, J." She chuckled. "But next time I say I want a ice cream cone, you better buy it."

To: Aja
Sure. Where we meeting?

"I'll remember that Shawn." I giggled as my head stayed down looking at my phone.

I'll be there in 10.

I sat my phone down and Shawn looked at me suspiciously. "Who you texting, J?"

"Nobody. Why?"

"Nu uh, you're smiling entirely to hard. Who is this person? Not Wis-Lamic right?"
