Chapter 4,
Siblings!
"I'm home!" I announce as Jack, Pete, and I walk into the house.
Ricky, Trevor, and Kaiya Wouldn't be home for another ten to fifteen minutes since they ride the bus home.
"Oh good! Jack take Jaylee, Jacklyn take Faith please, I need to take a shower. They have already been fed and had a bath and clean diaper, so you can just take them into the play room and watch them while they play." Mom says while handing us the babies, then glancing at Pete she adds, "and hello Peter dear."
"Hello Shannon."
With that, Mom goes past us and upstairs to the bathroom to take a shower.
"You got off lucky Lyn, Mom was in such a rush that she didn't even notice the bruise on your cheek." Jack laughs.
"Yeah sure, lucky." I murmur with a roll of my eyes, sarcasm lacing my tone, "just wait til Dad sees it."
"Dad is going to freak. Like he's going to go into overprotective father mode, assume someone did it to you and demand a name, face, and whatever else." Jackson adds with a laugh.
"No shit." I respond.
"Does it hurt?" Peter asks eyeing the bruise.
I reached up and lightly touched the tender spot, wincing as I pull my hand away, I nod and answer, "yeah kind of."
"Sucks to be you."
"Gee thanks Pete."
"You're welcome." Pete smiles just as the door opens and in comes Ricky, Trevor, and Kaiya. Kaiya and Trevor of course are arguing as per usual.
Ricky sighs, then looking up at me his eyes widen and practically yells, "holy crap! What happened to your face?!"
Trevor and Kaiya immediately look up at me upon hearing this and chaos ensues.
"Wow! Cool bruise, can I touch it!?"
"Does it hurt?" That was Ricky.
"Are you okay Jacky?"
"What happened?"
"Did you get into a fight? I bet it was awesome!"
"You didn't hurt someone did you?" Poor little Kaiya, always the sweet one and can't stand violence.
"Hush!" I silence them, making a gesture with my hand as silence. "I fell during a race in the cafeteria. No you can't touch it Trevor. Yes it hurts. Yes I'm okay, and no I didn't get into a fight or hurt someone."
Ricky sighs in relief, Kaiya smiles happily, and Trevor just looks disappointed.
"However, I was tempted to shove a boy down a flight of stairs today." I add just for Trevor's benefit and sure enough he perks right up.
"Really?"
"Why would you do such a horrible thing Jacky? That's mean."
'Oh Kaiya.'
"You restrained yourself though and didn't push the boy down the stairs right?" Ricky asks eyeing me.
"Relax Rick, I didn't push him down the stairs, but here! You take Faith and I'm gonna go outside and burn the kid's book I took away from him." I respond handing Faith to Ricky as I grab the book from my backpack.
