"What are we going to do?" Klaus asked as he and his sister were sat on a picnic basket at the Church Fair and Sunny was with Uncle Monty.
"I don't know, Klaus, I don't know," Violet said, shaking her head as she played with the ribbon in her hands.
Dr. Montgomery had unfortunately fallen for his disguise and, without 'Stephano' to even get a chance to look around the house before he whisked him, the Baudelaires and some of the reptiles to the fair.
"Uh oh," Violet muttered, looking at something behind Klaus.
"What?" The boy asked, following the Baudelaire's line of sight, "Uh oh,"
On the other side of the small field, Gilbert stood in front of Count Olaf, trying to understand why such a strange man had come to Avonlea.
"Uh so let me understand this. You are Dr. Montgomery Montgomery's new assistant, sent to him even though he didn't ask for one, by the Scientific Society Seeking to Soothe Stress and Suffering," Gilbert asked.
"Yes. "SSSSSS" for short,"'Stephano' answered.
"SSSSSS," The Blythe boy repeated.
"Mmm No. It's "SSSSSS"," Count Olaf corrected.
"SSSSSS"," Gilbert tried again.
"No. Listen to "SSSSSS"," Count Olaf told him.
"Ah, yeah, uh "SSSSSS"," The dark haired boy said, still confused, his eyes travelling over to a particular Baudelaire - who gave him a scared and worried look.
"Yes," Olaf nodded.
"Oh And your name is Stephano?" Gilbert asked.
"What? Yes. Yes. Definitely," Count Olaf quickly replied.
"Alright," Gilbert smiled uneasily before slowly backing away and walking over to his friends. An apprehensive feeling pooling in his stomach, knowing that Violet was living in a house with this rather odd man.
Violet let out the breath she was holding as she watched Gilbert walk away from the murderer who wanted to steal her and her sibling's fortune.
"Baudelaires!" Two voices called out, making the said children turn their heads towards them.
Duncan and Isadora were running towards the pair, ignoring the disapproving looks being thrown their way.
"We have something we need to show you," Duncan said urgently as he and his sister sat down next to Violet and Klaus.
"What?" Klaus asked, confused.
"Do you remember telling us about the spyglass?" Isadora asked.
"Of course," Klaus answered.
"Well, look what we found in our Grandmother's house," Isadora told them, reaching into her dress pocket and revealing have of a spyglass.
Violet and Klaus stared at the object in shock and Klaus scrambled for a certain object in his pocket. The boy pulled out his half of the spyglass as he and Isadora joined the two together after Klaus twisted his half to make it fit.
"Woah!" Sunny said.
"I think we need to talk," Klaus said as he and the others all sat there, bewildered.
