Chapter 6 - Tae as a childhood friend

"Wait a second...."
"Where are my keys??"
I ask myself this question.

Could i have forgotten to bring my keys?! I don't think i removed them from my pocket! Where could it be? I search myself very thoroughly. My pockets, Shirt pocket, my extra pockets, and even somewhere around the groud.

After a few minutes of searching, I've lost all hope and decided to re trace mysteps. I walk back to the path i took to Moca's House. Watching and looking on the ground very closely while walking at a slow pace.

"If i go on like this... I'll be able to find it soon..."
Is what i said to myself. But deep inside, i think I'm quite screwed.

I don't have a past about losing things. I'm a neat enough person to not loose my personal belongings.

It's been a while and i still haven't found my keys yet. I've only encountered a few coins on the way, that i picked up and kept for myself.

"What am i going to do?"

I'm quite troubled. It is already pretty late and i don't have the keys to my apartment. Where am i supposed to go now?

After a few minutes of thinking, someone arrived to aid my distress.

"Anon...kun?"
Asked the girl that walked up to me.

"Otae??...going home eh?"
"Yeah i am, how come you're still here?"
I didn't need to dodge the question. I had to say it or else I'll be stuck out here for the night.
"I lost the keys to my apartment and now i can't get in..."

Tae just stares at me with a weird expression on her face. Her face was blank and her mouth was left open. She's probably thinking of something rude about me.

"Want to stay over at my place for tonight?"
Asked Tae.

I froze for a second and thought about what she said. I guess it wouldn't be so bad. We are childhood friends. Her family knows me, but i don't think they remember me. Anyways, i do need a place to stay the night so i guess I'll take her up on that offer.

"Thanks, i shall take you up on your offer"
I replied.

And thus we made our way to Tae's house.

While we were on the way to Tae's house, she starts asking me a few things.

"What do you think about the Live House?"
"It's nice. I may wanna visit it again during my free time"
"Don't you always have free time?"
I got a bit bugged from that question.
"Not anymore."
"Aside from school, do you have other things to do?"
And a slight silence occured as i try to look for an answer other than no.
"Nothing really..."
I couldn't.

"What do you think of Afterglow?"
"I think they're really nice"
I answered biasedly.
"They're music is great, plus they have Ran with her amazing vocals"
I replied in a bashful tone.
Tae Chuckled. I looked at her and sees a bright smiling face. What could this air head be thinking about? Was it something that i said?
"It seems like you really like their band huh?"
"So far, i think they're great."
I denied. I don't want to sound so biased. I recall Otae being in a band herself.
"Aren't you in a band too?"
"Yes, PoPiPa"
"What's that?"
"It's short for Poppin Party!"
I giggled slightly.
"What?"
"I just thought that it's such a nice name"
Tae looked at me with a doubtful face as if she knew what i really meant behind what i said. And this conversation went on and on until we arrived at her house.

When we arrived at her house. I entered with a bit of nostalgia. The place is nothing like i remembered, everything seems to be new now. But maybe...

I rushed to her backyard to check on something.

"They're here!"
I screamed, getting the attention of Tae who was inside.

"Of course they'd be here"
"They'll never go"
Tae replied sincerely

I felt a bit disappointed. I feel as if she meant something else when she said they'll never go.

"Is it okay if you can show me my room now? I wanna go yo bed early and go back to the house to check on my key replacements." I contaced the landlord and ask for new keys since the land lord was away and she has the master key. I'm going to wait till they deliver thr new keys by tomorrow.

"Sure thing, right this way"
Tae obediently replied.

As she leads me into the room i am staying tonight, memories start flashing back into my head. Memories where we'd play around these areas, in her room, and even at the backyard. It fills me with nostslgia once more.

After i got into the room, Tae then went to her room to sleep. It is pretty late and she is pretty tired so maybe she really needs it.

Deep down i kinda wanted to talk to her for a bit. Maybe even explaining myself properly when i left her without saying a word. For now, i let these thoughts pass by me and went straight to sleep.

"I miss the old Otae..."

Was the last thing i said before i fell asleep.

The next morning. I woke up atleast an hour early than the expected delivery. If i get the keys now, I'll be able to make it to school without getting late. So i rushed out of Tae's house and made my way to mine.

I left a not on Tae's desk to let her know my thanks and that i had left.

As i was walking, thoughts crossed my mind again

"I wonder if Otae remembers the old me a bit?"

"We used to play outside all the time"

"We used to visit the park to play"

"We even used to take a bath together!"

And an akward silence occured on me.

"We were kids back then so..."

I kept walking and forgot about what i said.

As soon as i arrive at my apartment, i went up to my room and started to get ready for school.

"I can still make it to school like this!"

I started to fix my things, my bag, and the other school stuff i had.

Until i realized....

"Wait...."

"THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED THE WHOLE TIME?!?!?!"
