I jolted upright at a loud bell ringing in my ear.
I released a breath and climbed out of bed. I grabbed a pen and paper and jumped onto the wide window panel.
Dear Harry
I'm sorry for missing our Skype time but they told us we can't text, call, video call or anything like that until the next holiday.
I really miss you here. I saw the most amazing view of where we are and all I could think of was you. I'm almost regretting coming here because the next time I'll probably see you again will be in four months for the June holidays.
My day went okay. I learnt to run on water, climbed up a rock-faced cliff with my bare hands and dived over a waterfall into a rock pool. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring.
If you want to contact me you'll have to write a letter back I'm afraid. But please do. I miss you so much babe. I can't wait to see your grin again!
-Sierra
I folded it and slipped it into an envelope before writing his address on the outside. I jogged, this time actually a jog, to the post box just outside the Wing B door. I slipped it inside before walking up back to our room.
I showered, washed my hair and got dressed a few minutes shorter than I had expected. I walked down to breakfast where everyone was waiting for me.
"Our first lesson is with Miss Jelope," Amy sighed sitting down next to me. She's become very clingy lately. Yes, it's mean but it's true. And it's only been two days.
I ate quickly and hurried to get a seat at the back. The teacher was old, tall and thin with short orange hair and terribly crooked teeth.
"Okay class, I'm here to teach you about the speed part of vamps. Mostly, women are the fast ones and men are stronger but sometimes it's vice versa. Anyway, with speed, you need control. Close your eyes."
I did so and folded my arms.
"When you run, image yourself stopping dead in your tracks without any skidding just before you stop."
"Is it possible to run so fast you go over water?" Amy asked glancing at me with an irritating grin.
"Nope. So don't try," she muttered gruffly.
"But Sierra Evans did it yesterday," she interjected.
"She did, did she? Well, then it would be a good idea she shows us, right Miss Evans?" the teacher smirked.
"If I must," I shrugged getting up and walking out of the open classroom.
I took a running start across the sand toward the salty water. The water was flat like yesterday, barely any forms of waves. I flew over it hearing gasps behind me. I made sure not to go too far and made an even wider, clean turn back to shore. I started slowing down just before I hit the sand and imaged myself stopping easily in front of Miss Jelope. By the time I opened my eyes, I was standing stiffly right in front of her.
"Well, Dr Evans was always a bit biased," she hissed scornfully with folded arms, tapping her elbow with terrifyingly long nails.
Everyone quietly made their way back into the class. I have found a sudden dislike to Miss Jelope.
"Back to what I was saying before being rudely interrupted by Miss Evans and Higgins, who will in fact be seeing Mrs Kingsley in detention after school, to control-"
I mentally rolled my eyes and stared angrily out the classroom window for the rest of the lesson. How can she just do that?
"Class dismissed," she announced packing all her books. I jumped up and walked straight out the door glad to be leaving her horrible presence.
