Werecat with powers?

Chapter 3

Zariah's POV

A few days have passed since my brother allowed me and Lucas to live with him. I've been happy living with him and my birthday is tomorrow, i'm so excited to see my werecat! And maybe meet my mate.
Lucas is going crazy because i haven't told him that my birthday was in a few days from the day we met. He's been beating himself over it for not getting to know me better, but i told him it was alright because he could just surprise me next year or another year. He was happy at that thought, and i've been happy being across the hallway from him but i don't think he has because at night he sometimes slips into my room. I swear he has a crush on me at points. Like the time he muttered to himself which sounded like 'I wish i could have the courage to tell you i love you' or something like that. He's alright though.

I got pulled out of my thoughts by the sound of Jay yelling my name
"Yes Jay?" i asked
"I called your name like 50 times! You didn't answer until now!" he yelled
"Sorry i was stuck in my thoughts Attention seeker" i smirked at my words when he just glared at me
"Lunch is ready anyways" he left the room and i felt a cold aurora from him. I knew he was like me but something was off, has he found his mate or did he hate me for what i said or something? I didn't know so i stopped questioning it and walked downstairs to lunch. I smiled at Lucas and he just looked down and blushed. 'What is with people today' i thought to myself as i mentally screamed because something was definitely off but I just sat down and ate my lunch.

I had finished eating a minute ago but decided to stay where i was.
"Okay that it, what's wrong with you two today? You've been acting cold to me!" I snapped
"Nothing is wrong Zariah" replied Lucas quietly
"Tell me the truth Lucas! We've been great friends up until now! You've just turned cold to me and i hate that we're like this all of a sudden!" I almost felt like screaming at him but i decided not to.
"I'm not acting any other way i'm still myself! And it might be you if you take it into account Zariah!" Snapped Lucas. He louder than i was. "I'm going to my room" he stormed off up the stairs and to his room.

I knew i ticked him off because he's been going crazy but I've been going crazy as much as he has. I needed to clear my mind somehow, so i put my dishes in the sink and ran up to my room and quickly grabbed my phone and jacket, I ran down the stairs while putting my jacket on and putting my phone in my pocket.
"I'm going out to clear my mind" i said calmly
"Zariah no! Come back here!" yelled Jay. But by the time he finished his sentence i was already out the door and when i was i saw my father standing there.
"Zariah. Im sorry" apologized Marco
I didn't answer but i went back into the house closing the front door in his face making it hit his nose and running up to my room slamming the door shut and locking it.
"Zariah!" shouted Jay. "Down here! Now!"
"No!" i screamed "I'm not going down there with him there! He tried to abuse me once and im not letting him take me nor abuse me!"
Jay just sighed. "Down here now or you're not going out anymore for the rest of the year!" he yelled
I didn't say anything but i unlocked my door and went downstairs crossing my arms. "Im here, now what?" i asked cold heartedly
"Calm down, i invited him here from prison because he was drunk at the time. He never meant what he did. Also cops checked over our house and mom wasn't anywhere to be seen. Someone has taken her or she managed to get out" he said soothingly.

I sighed and sat down on the couch still stuck in my thoughts 'i don't know what to think about all this. My father being guilty, my mother missing, Lucas now hating me, me turning 16 tomorrow, meeting my Cat tomorrow and maybe my mate. Maybe Lucas is my mate. If he is then wow. But his birthday isnt for another month. But i'll still tell him when i find out. If he knows i'm not a human. I should ask him about that' i thought
"Zariah? Hello? That's the second time you've done that today! Can your senses work yet and tell you that i'm still here as well as your father!" exclaimed Jay between angry and calm. I didn't know that was a thing until now.
I sighed and replied "Sorry Jay. I've just been, thinking about things. It's been weird for me the past few days"
Jay was wondering what i was talking about i could see it in his eyes. Jay just glared at me "alright. But pay attention to me from now on. And try not to get stuck into your thoughts again" said my brother between sooth and harsh. It scared me a bit.
"Okay" i replied softly "but, can i go out now? I just really need to clear my mind. I'm slowly driving myself on the edge of insanity by not getting outside. And if i dont get outside i'll go completely crazy"
"Sure, but be back before nightfall!" he yelled as i ran out the door to the park
"That girl has become impossible" he sighed "she leaves the house without a word, it's like she's more focused in her thoughts then reality"
"She's fine, she just likes to get out alot, i've learnt that the hard way because i tried to convince her to stay inside for a day so we could watch movies together, didn't go as planned. We started arguing about whats better, going out or staying home." explained Lucas

I wasn't sure if Jay was right about my dad. I want to believe him but i don't know if i should. So what if he was drunk? He still tried to abuse me! And the thought of him doing that made my body shutter. I tried to push my mind away from that thought but i failed. Until i heard music, i recognized it as my favourite song. I listened but i couldn't find where it was coming from, it drove me crazy.

"Zariah!" yelled Katelyn making me jolt out of my thought's, one of my friends i made while i've lived with my brother. Katelyn is a Werecat just like me, she's 17 and her cat's name is Pearl. She's a snow leopard she looks so cool!
"Hey Katelyn! How've you been?" i asked
"Pretty good, Pearl keeps trying to take over to find my mate. I don't really want to find him yet though, i'm not ready" she replied
"Fair enough. My birthday is tomorrow so i get to meet my cat and maybe my mate. I don't know"
"If you did that would be awesome!"
"Yeah, it sure would be awesome. But i think it's highly unlikely. Has anyone ever met there wolf/cat/something and their mate on the same day before?" i questioned
"I think so, but i have no clue" She Replied
"Okay then. Now i'm slightly frightened" I replied a bit rashly
Katelyn just laughed nervously "sorry for getting you frightened"
"It's alright, it didn't scare me too much"

4 hours have passed since i started talking with Katelyn and it's been fun, but when she asked me if i wanted to hear a legend it put me on edge slightly but i was excited to see what she was going to tell me about this legend

"Well this legend is about a werecat and a werewolf. It is destined that everytime a werewolf & werecat with powers die a new pair of them are born. And when they reach age they get their cat or wolf and they get used to their powers as normally the male is skilled in using the powers and flying so he can teach the female and they have to journey around looking for the stone of shadows and stopping criminals and others from getting it to use it for evil but you have to look out for loved ones as they can be taken. And you want to know the best part?"
I nodded. I was into this legend but could it be real? I wasn't sure
"They could be your friend or enemy right under our noses without even knowing!"
I was shocked when she said that. "Don't they have to keep it a secret?" i asked
Katelyn nodded and asked "But if you were the werecat of that legend you would tell me and show me right?"
"Of course! Now i have to get home, i promise Jay i would get back before nightfall and its getting kinda close to nightfall since we've been talking for a few hours. Cya katelyn!" I exclaimed happily as i walked back to Jay's house and my temporary house for the moment.

"Took you long enough to get back Zariah" Said Lucas "look, dont walk off just yet"
I stayed where i was wondering what he wanted to say
"Im sorry, for acting like i was earlier. Im just tired, i've barely slept for 3 days" sighed Lucas looking down sorrowly
I walked over to him and hugged him "its alright. I know you're tired, you could've just told me though" i replied with a gentle and quiet voice. It seemed like i charmed him that way as he started blushing, i didn't mean what i said to come out romantically but i guess it did by mistake. "And besides isn't it starting to get late? We should go to bed, but before we go to our rooms i have a question"
"Ask away" chimed Lucas
"What do you think i am? Human, werewolf or something else? Im just wondering since you haven't said anything about it"
"I think you're a human because i can't smell any scent from you"
"Okay" i replied "and i'm going to bed now because i'm starting to get tired, goodnight" i walked up to my room and slid into bed falling asleep almost instantly
"Goodnight Zariah" he said tiredly as he walked up to his room to sleep.
