The beginning of the next day could only be described as a blur. A walk down the street and the passing of unfamiliar, unimportant faces. Everything I did, I did without thought, emotion, or effort. I got up. I brushed my teeth. I got dressed. I ate breakfast. I left. That's all I could bring myself to remember.
The school day passed in a familiar fashion. I arrived into class. I studied. I left. Unfortunately, my life felt that it shouldn't be this simple-- this easy. As if fate were playing with me- as if I was the puppet and some cruel puppet master held my life by its strings- things got worse.

Jeonga's POV
"There's our precious little chew toy," Jiyoo said, her voice boiling over with excitement. I glance at Seulji, who stood unpacking her locker as if there wasn't a single thought in her head. Pathetic. Well, there's not much to do anyway. Why not have a little fun before the day is over?"You're right... Is it just me or are you guys bored, too?" I sneered at Seulji, clueless as usual. "Wow, Jeonga," Haeji exclaimed, "you must have read my mind or something. School is such a bother, you know? I could use a break from everything."
I felt my lips raise into an anxious grin, "Let's go have some fun, shall we?"
A few strides later, I was standing behind our target, who simply packed her things as if she didn't see me. "Hey, Seulji!" I beamed, "what could you be possibly doing in a locker? What's the use of studying when you don't have a brain?" Haeji and Jiyoo snorted behind me.
She turned with her gaze at her feet, and after a few seconds of silence, she finally replied. "L-leave me alone, Jeonga."
My eyebrows shot up, and I could practically see Jiyoo and Haeji's jaws drop to the floor in my head. "Boy, someone's confident," I laugh. "Apparently, our little friend has a death wish," Haeji commented from behind me. I walked towards her until there were only a few inches of air separating us, "I dare you to open your mouth again. I'll make sure you never say another word."
Seulji's eyes shot up, her stare shooting daggers, "No, I won't be quiet. I'll never stay silent for you again."
At this point, we had engaged in a wordless war, then I turned to Haeji. "Hand it to me." She reached into her bookbag pocket and pulled out a container of apple juice, then placed it in my outstretched hand. I began to unscrew the top, "You know what? Why don't I do you a favor? You don't have a brain to study with, so why don't you just head home early? And since you don't have an excuse," I raised the bottle over her head, gently pouring the juice until it trailed from her hair to her face to her textbooks and down onto the floor, the sweet aroma of apples filling the air, "I'll give you one." I dropped the bottle at her feet.
"Oh no, Seulji!" Jiyoo mocked, rushing to her side, "I hope that's not a new uniform! You clumsy thing you, how'd you spill apple juice all over yourself? You should clean that up soon. You don't want to smell any worse than you already did." Haeji and I smiled as her eyes reddened and filled with tears.
In spite of the embarrassment, her eyes bored into mine until I almost faltered, "Do whatever you want. Ridicule me and dehumanize me to your heart's desire, but I refuse to bow down to you." She raised her head higher, ignoring her wavering voice, "Everyone talks behind your back about how you're the most immature, selfish, and cruel girl in the entire school anyway. So go ahead and bully me. You're only proving them right," she slammed her locker shut and walked away, her textbooks still clutched tightly in her arms.
Haeji turned to me with a confused look strewn across her face and shrugged as we watched Seulji leave. A growl rumbled in the back of my throat. "Oh... so we're brave now? Is that it?... Fine! She was getting boring anyway," I spun on my heel and started back to class, fists clenched at my side. Rushed footsteps I knew belonged to Haeji and Jiyoo struggled to match my speed.
