The next morning, I could barely even move. My arms, legs, abs were all aflame from the night before. If breathing was painful last night, it was the equivalent to a car rolling over me everytime I took a breath now. I groaned louder than I intended when I forced myself up, and even if no human had hearing good enough to hear the noise a room and two closed doors away, we had a certain plastic pal that might. I covered my mouth, but it was too late. The thing barged in my room and immediately knew who I was, "Good morning, Jintae."
"Shh!" I hushed with a finger to my lips. I ignored the burning sensation engulfing my body to roll off my bed and quickly limp to the hallway to make my escape. If she wasn't awake before, she certainly was now.
"Jintae?" Minjee yawned from behind me. I did my best to straighten up, "What? Shocked to see me here?"
"Yeah, I mean... you didn't tell anyone you were going to visit."
"Is it even necessary at this point?"
"Well, I guess not," she agreed, clearly too low on energy to argue with me, "...Why aren't you looking at me?"
"Do I have to?" I speedily rebuttled. My nerves started to eat me up as her footsteps crept closer. "Stop right there!" She halted in her tracks, "What? Why?"
"I... I don't wanna look at you. You're so ugly... th-that I can't even stand looking at you," I sputtered out.
"You think I care what you can and can't do? I want breakfast. Move."
She squeezed past me and her elbow landed on a sore spot on my back, "Ugh!"
"Stop being so dramatic." She poked the spot again, "Ahh!" I fell to the floor as the pain erupted through my side.
"Oh my g- What's wrong?" She knelt by my side and took one look at my face before shrieking, "What happened to you?!"
Damnit...
"Nothing! I... fell down the stair-"
"Stop spewing crap! What did you do to end up looking like this? Who did this to you?" She clasped my face in her hands to observe my bruises, but I quickly swiped them away and stood.
"It's my business, so stay out of it, okay? I thought you were more mature than to poke your nose where it doesn't belong."
I failed at taking a step forward when a stinging in my thigh sent me tumbling to the floor again. Minjee was by my side before I fell, and she brought my arm around her shoulder to support me. "Where do you think you're going? You need to stay so I can treat this mess!"
"I'm fine!" I refused, removing my arm from around her.
In a flash, she wrapped my arm back into the same position as before, "Stop it! You couldn't even reach the front door if you tried."
She had a point there.
"I have a first-aid kit in the bathroom. Let's go."
My limp became obvious, but it was too late to hide it now. We both squeezed through the bathroom door where she sat me down carefully on the closed toilet seat, then sped to the cabinets where she pulled out the first aid kit. She knelt down beside me and pulled out the supplies and began treating the cuts on my face. "I can't believe this! How did you hurt yourself so badly? If mom knew, she'd be worried sick! Heck, I'm worried sick! You may be a bit lost right now, but you're still my brother, and I care about you. It hurts to see you like this.."
My already shredded heart shed a few more pieces, "Why would you care? I'm a drug-addict for crying out loud." In all honesty, I didn't do drugs, I only sold them. In fact, I could barely stand the smell of them. But saying I did drugs drove them further away from me, which is what I wanted. On top of that, coming home reeking of Red Ice and cigarrettes was harder to explain than you'd think. "Isn't it obvious that I don't care about you guys? Just leave me alone. I'm no benefit to you idiots."
