Reality was starting to set in as Stevie sat in the backseat of her car between the two carseats. She absolutely adored her daughters and Lindsey had been so good, but she was getting nervous about caring for them. She was responsible for these two little angels and she wanted to do it perfectly, she didn't want all her craziness to fuck them up. Lindsey watched her mood change from the rearview mirror. He could always sense her moods and wanted to put an end to this one. "Steph?" he asked quietly. "Yeah?" she replied. "You're such an amazing mother. I always knew you would be. The girls are so lucky to have a mother like you." he told her sweetly. "Do you really think so Linds? I worry that I won't be able to do it right. I want to make sure they are perfectly happy and content little girls." she told him honestly. "Stevie, you are worrying too much. You're a great mom. I'm not saying everything will always be perfect, but we're going to be doing this together. We'll figure it out as we go. Our life is going to be spectacular. We just learn as we go, but we already love them with all of our hearts. I think that is a pretty great place to start." he said smiling. "You're right Linds, I'm just worrying too much, I need to enjoy this. Thank you baby, I love you." she said. "Love you too Stevie." he said as he turned into the driveway.
Stevie was so excited to finally have her daughters home and in her arms. She wanted to show them around their home. She and Lindsey took them to every room in the house and finally ended in their nursery. It was probably a good thing as it was feeding time for the girls. Lindsey sat in the rocking chair opposite Stevie as he fed Sara. He alternated between staring into Sara's beautiful brown eyes, a perfect copy of her mother's and watching Stevie with Scarlett. He really wasn't sure life could get any better than this. His life was so full of love and happiness now where it hadn't been before. Everytime he thought he couldn't love Stevie any more than he already did she proved him wrong. He thought his heart might explode as he listened to her singing Beautiful Child to Scarlett, trying to lull her to sleep. "Stevie, I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else. This is so perfect." he said lovingly. He expected to see a smile on her face but his eyes were met with a glare instead. "Is that supposed to be a joke Lindsey? Because I'm not the only one you've done this with." she answered hatefully. "No, sorry Steph, I didn't mean it in a bad way. With you I am finally completed and it's so perfect doing this together. I love Will and LeeLee just as much as Sara and Scarlett, but I'm just enjoying this so much because I get to look over and see you and not someone that I wished was you." he tried to explain. She smiled, "Oh, sorry Linds. Just a sore subject. Forget I said anything. I couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else but you either."
For the next week their doorbell was constantly ringing. Between visitors from Stevie's family mainly and gifts being sent, Lindsey really thought he should just stand at the door all day to save himself time. He and Stevie were both exhausted, but as always Stevie was a gracious hostess and never let on that she was unhappy to have company. He overheard she and Lori planning the Christmas gathering. He really needed to speak to Stevie, Christmas was two weeks away and he wanted to go back to LA. He missed Will and LeeLee and Kristen wouldn't agree to letting them spend any time in Phoenix during the Holidays. Besides, he thought it was time that they met Scarlett and Sara and he wanted to start living like a family. In LA. "Stevie, can we talk for a minute?" he called as he walked up the stairs to their bedroom. "I'll be right up!" she called back. He was anxious to talk to her about it, afraid of her reaction. It was no secret that Stevie loved Phoenix and loved being around her family. She could tell him to fuck off for all he knew.
Her bedroom was dark and she saw Lindsey sitting on the edge of their bed. What's this about? she thought to herself. Stevie could sense his anxiety and kissed him before trying to lighten the mood. "Oh Linds, I'm so excited for Christmas! We have to go shopping!" she laughed, trying to get him to laugh because she knew how much he hated to shop. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about Stevie. I want to go back to LA. It's LeeLee's first Christmas and I don't want to miss spending the Holidays with Will and Lee, too. Kristen won't allow me to bring them here for any of the Holidays and as we don't have a custody agreement I can't really argue with her." he said sadly. Stevie thought for a moment, she had been so consumed with the happiness and excitement she had felt over the girls and their first Christmas as a family that she hadn't even thought about the details of Lindsey's other children. He was right, they needed to go back to LA, it wasn't fair for him to miss time with all of his children, and she assumed it was time for them to start being a real family. "Linds, you're right, I'm sorry. I was just kind of in my own world and I didn't even think about that. We can go back to LA if that's what you want. It's time to start integrating our family." she smiled. He smiled and hugged her. "Thank you for understanding Stevie. You have no idea how much I love you." "I think I have an idea, we should leave in the next couple of days, so we can start getting the house there ready for Christmas. Oh no, we don't have a nursery there or rooms for Will and LeeLee! What are we going to do?" she asked worriedly. "Don't worry Stevie, we'll have a couple of cribs delivered there before we get there and once we are there we can do the decorated ourselves. Or yourself." he laughed. "Ok, well we should probably start making arrangements." she said before kissing him again. He was relieved, this was all going to work out.
