I don't know who or what to thank for the fact the Mr Key didn't mention anything about my lateness. I was forever grateful for whoever made that happen. Perhaps Key was just a gentleman and knew not to mettle in others affairs.

"The trial starts today, if this guy gets put away we move onto the next case," Key said when I walked in. "You're wearing that to the trial?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't under the impression we were attending the case." I said and smoothed my hands down my wrinkled dress.

"I always make it a point to go to the bigger trials. Just to see what the other side brought in for evidence. To better my own work and to see if they tried something I didn't. "

"And that is what makes you a hella PI," I said and flopped down in my seat across from him. He raised his gaze to mine with a small smile playing on the edges of his lips.

"Did you just say hella?"

"I sure did, Key. You are a hella PI and now I have to honor to work with you, so thank you for that opportunity. So, when do we leave for the trial?"

"Right now," he says, checking his watch. He stands and grabs his coat, pulling it over himself. He gives me another glance, his eyes lingering on my chest. "Perhaps, you should wear this," he says and shrugs out of the jacket. I glance down and see that there is a whole in my dress where the buttons had popped off.

My face turned bright red, I could practically see the steam rolling from my cheeks as I excepted his jacket, pulling it over myself. "Sorry, sir."

"No need, I understand," He said and grabbed his brief case and opened the door. I followed after him down to the elevator, stopping to talk to Emilia for a bit before continuing. I wrapped the nude long coat around me tighter as we stepped out into to the streets.

To my surprise, Quimby is there to pick us up. He holds the door open as Key and I slide in. Another surprise is to see Cole and Samantha in the back as well. I try to avoid Samantha's gaze and sit down beside Cole. He goes to reach for my hand but I remove it before he can touch me. I give him the not here look and he backs off to which I am grateful for.

I try to refrain from making my presence known, afraid that they'd figure out what happened last night at Cole's penthouse. I didn't want to give anything away, like clenching my thighs together at the thought of Cole between my thighs.

I sighed and tried to focus on something else, like the buildings moving passed the car as Quimby drove us to the courthouse. I tried to not listen to what Samantha and Cole were discussing and I pushed back a feeling in my chest. Jealousy, maybe. If so, it sucked.

The court room was buzzing when we entered. Cole had to leave us to meet up with his client when we got there, leaving Mr Key, Samantha, and I. We found a seat in the back, Mr Key sitting in the middle of the two of us, making me happy.

I sat back and ignored the feeling of Samantha's eyes on mine. She finally leaned forward, catching my eye. I raised an eyebrow in question, daring her to speak. She took that as an invitation, dammit.

"We should talk about it, Racheal. I want to apologize for eavesdropping. I really was about to walk in when I heard you speak about me, I just wanted to hear what you were going to say. I'm sorry for overstepping my boundry."

She continued,

"I just assumed that you and Mr Pearson were together from the conversation that I heard-,"

"Shhh!" I said and looked away from her, trying to cool my reddened cheeks. "Not everyone in the courtroom needs to know that," I scoff and pull my hair over my shoulder to block her out. This may seem really petty, but our secret is now on the line. She's a reporter, the ones who expose people. Perhaps the reason I was still fuming was because I trusted her, even though it was just a brief second.
