"Where did you disappear to?" Sydney asked first when they all made it back from the zoo. The boys went to Cole's and Quimby brought the girls here. Max also stepped out for a bit, saying he needed to talk to Matt and Rapha which is something that I still needed to do as well. To explain what happened that night in Baise Moi.
"It got a bit too crowded at the zoo and I needed some air. So I came back, I didn't want to bring you with me. Paige had too much fun on the giraffe to leave," I said with a smile and showed them the pictures of Paige on the giraffe.
"It was amazing!" She exclaimed and threw herself down onto my couch. "I want to go back already," I laughed and sat down next to her.
"Max left, too. So did Cole," Hailey observed. "Matter of fact, Cole came and got Max and they both left," She ran her hands through her hair, trying to figure stuff out.
"Yeah, I told Cole to come get Max because he had the key. No big deal. Hey, you guys wanna go watch a movie tonight?" That seemed to get them off the topic of my departure. To my luck, they all agreed excitedly. "Great! They actually have a cinema down the street from here. We can go now,"
"What about the guys?" Paige asks, standing up beside me. Shoot, I didn't think of that,
"Girls night, I said and stepped into my shoes again. They wont want to see a chicklit anyway," I shrugged it off and grabbed my keys.
"But you hate chicklits," Hailey said confused.
"I'm willing to watch one for you, let's go." I said and stepped out the door before they could ask anymore questions. Talking about my past with them, my dark past, wasn't something I wanted to do. The only people that knew about that were my father and Max. And the only reason Max knows is because he's the one that pointed it out.
That night was when I first moved here and everyone at College seemed to talk about me. My insecurities got the best of me and I had a break down on campus. At the time I was living in the dorms and I was behind on the payment that I had with the board. That stress didn't help with easing the panic attack.
Max stopped by and helped me out of it and brought me back to his flat, the flat we have now. In the midst of my panic attack, I brought up some of my thoughts and that's when he had brought up my mental illness. He said he would help me, and he did. He really helped me, not only with my thoughts but also with my dorm. He let me move in with him and told me not to worry about payment but I wouldn't except that so any money that I would come across would go to him for rent.
Max really was my hero in this situation. That is why I owe him everything.
"Rach, you okay?" Sydney asked, grabbing my shoulder and snapping me out of my reverie.
"Oh, yeah. I'm good. The theater is right here," I said and stopped outside the old run down theater. They showed the same movies as the other big chain cinemas but they have lower prices, it's a deal, really.
"Are you sure this place is still running," Paige asked while looking up at the broken windows.
"This place is best place to watch a movie in Bronx. Trust me," I said and walked in. Kelly was sitting at the front desk, flipping through a book. "Hello, Kelly,"
She looked up to me with a bright gaze, "Racheal, you've come back to see me!" She rounded the desk and brought me into a hug. I used to come in here all the time on the weekends, the cheap entertainment was the only thing I could really afford, not nights out in clubs or bars.
"I'm sorry, I recently got me new job. It's been taking up all my time. Anyway, these are my friends, Paige, Sydney and Hailey. They wanted to watch a movie so I brought them to the best place in Bronx."
