"it's not just me, no, you feel it too
you know and i know, we lost the lotto"

— It's just not the same now. Daniel barely spends time with me anymore. It's like we lost our thing.

Jack told Zach as they ate on that old café they used to visit frequently.
Zach just shrugged and smiled sadly. He couldn't do anything for the two.

"it's like our love cut the line in two
we're on different sides though, lost in the echo"

— God dammit Jack! Pick up the damn phone!

Daniel threw the phone and it flew across the room. It felt as if the two lovers where in different sides of earth when, in reality, they were right next to each other.

"our lips are moving, they're makin' words
words turn to riddles, we make it worse"

Jack rolled his eyes as he heard the same fight over and over again.
The distance between them, it was getting too much.
And every time they spoke it only seemed to get worse. Worse with every word.

"cause i'm not listening, and you're not listening, no"

— ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!

Jack rolled his eyes. He was tired of it; both of them were.

— Not like you listen to me either.

The younger one said, before leaving the room.

"we try to fix it, it never works"

From: dani💞💘💖
you know we can fix this babe

To: dani💞💘💖
we have tried already... it never works

"we go, breaking up like cell phones"

— I think it's time to give it a rest. It's over Daniel.

The blue eyed boy and the curly haired one exchanged a glance before both of them left, completely heartbroken.

"when I speak, 'cause you don't listen when I talk"

Daniel couldn't sleep that night, instead he remembered every fight, every time the pair ignored each other. It was just too much for both of them.

"dial tone, nothing but that high note"

Jack cried, remembering the nights where he used to call Daniel and he wouldn't pick up, no matter how many times he tried, he became familiar with the high note.

"when you speak 'cause I don't listen when you talk"

They wouldn't talk to each other, and if they did, they didn't listen. It was the only way they knew, and the only way it was. The lack of communication was their problem.

"ooh, yeah, don't think we'll ever get better, better"

Neither their relationship or the pain got better. It was just imposible for them to be together. But it was also imposible for them to be apart.

"gets worse with every letter, letter"

Every message, every tweet, everything made it worse. It only added more pain and suffering to both boys, but it was also their way of knowing that the other still cared.
That's why neither of them stopped texting, or tweeting.

"dial tone, nothing but that high note
on repeat 'cause we don't listen when we talk"

No matter how many times they called each other, their pride always made them ignore the call. They weren't ready to pick up, but they were too weak to hang up.
