The weather had already changed, he could see the snowflakes falling from the sky.
He was curled up in a ball, on his window seat, wrapped up in a blanket, no machines around, just him and the snow.
He was going back to his most detested place, the hospital.
There, he was going to have his chemo and be all weak again. He hated it, but he knew it was the only thing that he could do, his last chance.
He looked down at his left wrist, where a little tattoo was hid by his long sleeves.
He remembered the night when he did that tattoo. He and his friends sneaked out of the hospital together, and drove to the place.
There, the five of them, told the tattoo artist that they wanted something special, something that represented them.
The man, quickly turned around, looking for the drawing artist and this young lady, did some sketches, but only one caught their attention, it was a broken star.
A five points star.
Each boy got tattooed one of the sides of the star, a little triangle to be more exact.
It represented them. They were a masterpiece together, they were real perfection.
He was snapped out of his thoughts by his mother snapping her fingers in front of his face, they had arrived.
- Jack, sweetie, are you okay?
- Yeah mom, just tired.
The truth was, he wasn't okay.
He was a complete mess.
He was nervous, he didn't want to go back there, he missed his friends, but that was a living hell, and he didn't want to go there again.
He removed the blanket from his body and walked out of the car. His dad closed the door behind him and gave him a big hug.
- I'll come and visit you as soon as I can, okay?
Jack nodded.
He barely ever saw his father, but he knew that at least he tried.
They pulled away from the hug and he and his mom walked inside.
When he stepped in, a warmth air surrounded him.
The hospital had changed a lot, it even looked nice. It almost felt like home.
They followed the nurse to his old room.
It hadn't changed a lot, his posters were still there and there were some books that he loved.
- Jack, baby, I've to go now okay? I'm going to miss you... I'll come every Wednesday and Saturday, just like the old days.
Jack nodded, tears already filling his eyes.
His mom hugged him, not wanting to let go, but deep down she knew she had to.
- I love you, you're stronger than it, never forget that.
And then she left.
The nurse helped Jack unpack his things and, soon, he was installed on his "new" room.
The nurse gave Jack a warmth smile before opening the door.
- Go to sleep, tomorrow is your first session and you already know that it's the worst.
Jack gave her a smile and a quick nod before he changed into his pajamas and laid on his bed.
Some tears managed to slip out of his eyes. How bad he wanted this to be over.
How bad he wanted to be normal again.
He closed his eyes, but sleep never came, so he got up and unplugged his phone.
He scrolled through his recent messages till he found a group.
