When he sees you upset/crying:

Joe isn't one for emotions. He doesn't like it when you're too happy or too sad. He doesn't know how to handle the situation. He will try his best to make you laugh, even when you are just not in the mood. This can sometimes be annoying, when all you want is for him to listen, or just be there. However, you can't stay mad long, because you know he cares so much for you, and is only trying to make you feel better, and you appreciate it.
