You and Zoe Sugg have been the best of friends for about five years now. You met through YouTube, and have collaborated more times than she has with Alfie. The two of you were inseparable.
Along with the friendship, she has made it explicitly clear that she doesn't want her younger brother, Joe, to date anyone. She was a protective older sister, and she never wanted to see him get hurt. So, she naturally would run off any girl that came in reach of Joe. Such a shame, you thought, he's really cute.
Over the span of two years, you and Joe had become more friendly to each other, and would even talk on the phone. This wasn't too weird, Zoe saw no harm in her best friend and her brother talking and being friends, as well. This was all fine and dandy, until one day, the feelings you and Joe had for each other grew into more than just friendly feelings. Though, neither of you actually confessed to each other about your feelings.
You were at the annual Christmas party that Zoe and Alfie would throw at their house. You, along with many other YouTube and work friends, were gathered together at the Sugg/Deyes household for some "holly-jolly" fun. Of course, Joe was there, too.
Throughout the party, Joe would give you cheeky winks from across the room, or would brush past you, and whisper things in your ear, like "You look good, tonight." or "Hey again, gorgeous."
You had spent the evening trying to contain your blushing, hoping that your best friend wouldn't notice. She would have a fit if she found out that he was flirting with you!
After a couple hours of laughter and merry fun, you needed to take a break and go outside to cool off. Being around a large group of people can become overwhelming.
You headed out to the backyard to get some fresh air. After a minute or so, you heard the door open slightly, causing you to turn your head in its direction. You saw the younger Sugg strolling down to where you were standing, with a smirk plastered on his face.
"Hey, Joe." you greeted.
"Hey, beautiful." He replied, still with the smirk on his face. "What are you doing out here by yourself?"
"Just taking a breather." You blushed at his greeting, focusing your eyes on the ground. You couldn't let him see you blushing, otherwise he would never let you hear the end of it.
Next thing you knew, you felt fingers take hold of your chin, and lift your face upwards, only to see Joe looking above him. At something the was holding above your heads.
A mistletoe.
Before you could even comprehend what was happening, Joe crashed his lips onto yours for a soft, sweet kiss. After a second or so, you realized what was happening, and pushed him away.
"Have you lost your damn mind?!" you whispered-yelled, hoping to not cause a commotion that catches the other party-goers attentions. You had wanted this for so long, but you knew that Zoe would freak if she found out.
Joe just rolled his eyes, which instantly made you furious.
"Joe, you can't just go around and kiss people like that. Especially your sister's best friend!"
Joe scoffed at you. "I don't go around kissing whoever I please, Y/N."
This time it was your turn to roll your eyes. "Regardless, if Zoe saw that, she would freak out on both of us."
"Y/N, I don't really care what Zoe thinks. I have liked you for a long time, and I've made it very obvious to you. I thought you felt the same way, and this was the best way to act upon those feelings."
You stood there, shocked. You hadn't realized before that he was flirting with you because he actually liked you. You only thought it was because you were such good friends, and it was for fun. You wanted this more than anything. You wanted him more than anything, and here he is, confessing his love to you, and you're just stood there with her mouth open like a damn deer in headlights.
Joe shoved his hands into the pockets of his trousers, and shrugged his shoulders. "I guess the feelings aren't as mutual as I hoped they were. Sorry if I got the wrong idea."
He began to head back into the house, but you finally snapped out of your trance, and grabbed onto his arm to prevent him from walking away any further.
"I like you too, Joe." you whispered, afraid that if you spoke louder, things would change.
He turned back to you, with a small smile. "Really?"
"Really." you smiled up at him.
"So, does this mean you'll be my date for the rest of the party, and potentially become my girlfriend?" he asked, hopefully.
"I would love to be your date/girlfriend, but what would Zoe say?"
"She would say it's about bloody time you two got together!" you heard a voice yell from the door. You and Joe spun around to see Zoe standing in the doorframe, with a smile on her face. "I've known that you two had a thing for each other, so I was just waiting for you two to come to your senses."
She gave you a quick wink, telling you that she approves. You blushed again, and turned back to Joe. Joe blushed along with you, sending you a cheeky wink before leading you back to the party, hand-in-hand.
A/N: sorry this sucks! I've had this idea in my head for a few days, but it didn't turn out like I hoped it would. Oh well. Hope you liked it anyway!
