"Okay, I think we need some chocolate chips. I don't think I have anymore at home."
"Grab a bag then," I motioned for her to put the item into our now full cart. It's been an hour since we got to this grocery store and Elizabeth seems to be having the time of her life.
"Heeee okay, I think that's all we need."
"Are you sure you don't need to grab a few more items?"
"I'm sure this time."
"Okay let's check out,"
"Let me pay okay, you can pay for our fourth date." She said quickly as she rummaged her backpack for her wallet. She was simple, she had a plain old wallet that seems to be giving up on its job. It was ripped and full of scratches. The wallet wasn't branded or anything and it looks like it's been washed a few times.
"Okay, it means we're definitely going for our fourth date. I'll gladly allow you to pay.. Let's check out ourselves?"
"You already know me so well." Elizabeth beamed as she pulled the cart away from me and headed to the check out counters.
Our groceries contained baking supplies so I had a hunch as to what we were going to be doing today. I've been around pastries and baked goods in the early years of my life because of Phoebe and her love for baking. So I was not worried that I won't be able to help her out later on.
She looked really overjoyed because of the mere fact that she was scanning her own items. I gladly packed it in our reusable bags and placed it back in the cart. The total was a little bit on the pricier side so I was hoping I could persuade her to maybe let me pay. But she stood her ground and paid for it all.
On our drive back to the dorms, we made a quick stop at McDonald's and she got us both burgers and fries. I got the chicken burger and she a cheeseburger for herself. We ended up eating in the car before continuing on with our drive.
"What are we going to bake?"
"Hmm, I don't know yet. I'm not much of a baker."
"Is that why you bought all sorts of ingredients?"
"Yes," she smiled sheepishly as she folded the wrapper and popped it in the trash.
We were at Phoebe's place now, I grabbed a few pairs of clothing because only God knows when this date will end and I'm not complaining. I just want to be fresh throughout. We guys tend to smell too after a while. After collecting my things, I left a note on the counter to let Phoebe know where I would be.
"We can bake cupcakes instead."
"You're sure?"
"Yes, I was deciding between an actual cake but it's easier to give out when it's a cupcake."
"Give out?" I asked as we pulled up to the dorms' parking space.
"Our next date, I was kind of planning if we can visit the orphanage I've been volunteering at."
"That's a really great idea,"
"You don't think it's silly?"
"What? Why would I think that!" She bit her lower lip and continued looking down as we approached her door.
"Oh it's just that I spend most of my time doing non-college things that's all, I honestly don't feel like I have an interesting life." Elizabeth admitted and continued looking down as she looked for the right key to open her lock.
"El, you can't say that you don't have an interesting life. If you think you are doing activities that make you happy, then your life is interesting. Cooking, volunteering and cleaning sounds really time consuming but you enjoy it. El, it doesn't need to be interesting in other people's eyes, only yours." I said as I shifted my weight to my other foot. We entered the empty dorm and headed to her small kitchen.
