Elizabeth

Saturday (14 days left) // Date #1

I glanced at the clock on my bedside table to see '10:30' and I immediately hopped off of bed, completely forgetting Adam beside me. We ended up falling on the floor, tangled in my sheets. After a loud thud, I landed on Adam's chest and groaned.

"Elizabeth, I can wake up easily. You didn't need to throw me off the bed," he massaged the back of his head.

"I'm so sorry, what can I do? Do you want ice? Are you going to have a concussion? Are you dizzy? Shit, I'm sorry, we overslept! There's no more fresh salmon or vegetables. Oh I'm sorry I shouldn't even think about that! I'm sorry, are you okay? How are you? Is it swollen? It was a pretty loud thu-," he pressed his slender finger against my lips to shut me up.

"I'll live, don't worry Elizabeth."

"Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Hmm, maybe start by getting off me so we can head to the store?" A smirk crept up his face causing me to blush. My chest was pressed against his when he broke my fall and I was on top of him the entire time I was freaking out about his head injury.

"I'm sorry, like shit, I didn't mean to hurt you!" I climbed off him and offered my hands to pull him up.

"I'm really okay, get dressed and let's go," he reassured me as he took my hands and I lifted him up.

"Just let me know when you're not feeling good okay?" I looked up at him as he towered me, his bed head looked so freaking hot and he doesn't even try.

"Stop checking me out, get ready,"

"Pssh, me? Checking you out? You must have hit your head pretty hard!" I shook my head, trying to hide the blush threatening to show on my face. After grabbing a set of clothing, I quickly headed to the bathroom, almost tripping on my own foot. Me and my clumsy ass. I could hear Adam laughing on my bed as I entered the bathroom to wash up.

I dusted a little bit of make up and dabbed a matte lipstick on my bottom lip, pressing my lips together to blend them. Slipping on my floral blouse and black leggings, I quickly brushed my hair. Before leaving the bathroom, I sprayed some peachy body mist that Katie gave me and did a quick run down of my outfit. I looked decent. That's good enough.

As I exit the bathroom, Adam was on the small sofa, putting on his shoes. He gave me a small smile as I headed back to my table to grab my purse and shopping list. I slipped my sandals on and we locked up in silence before heading to his car.

"I was planning on bringing you on one picnic after, do you mind?" Adam followed me to the passenger's side and opened the door for me.

"Thank you. Not at all, I haven't done that in a long time," I saw down and waited for him to get to his side.

"Why not?" He started the engine and peeled off the driveway.

"My older sister passed away, it was our thing and I never really found another person who was still interested in those activities." I stared out the window trying to not tear up. Talking about Ellie was still difficult. I could feel him glancing at me from time to time after he finally decided to reply, sensing the heaviness of the subject.

"Well, it's your lucky day Elizabeth, I happen to love picnics. Let's go to the store and then head back to your place first,"

"That sounds wonderful, do you know where to go?"

"Pfft me? Of course!"

"What's gotten in you today?"

"I haven't eaten,"

"We should really get something to eat soon, it's nearly lunch time,"

"Speaking of lunch time, what's your favourite food? Apart from apple pie,"

"Hmmm," I wondered, "there's just so much to choose from. But I like eating pasta. Any sauce is fine but I have this particular one that I can eat for a whole week. You?"

"I happen to like pasta but I'm more of a rice guy. And I love steaks."

"Katie loves steaks too, she usually have one every week when she goes out with Nathan," I smiled thinking about Katie basically beaming whenever she sees her food arrive. We've talked about tons of things on the drive to the store from his embarrassing food stories to my toilet horror stories.

"We're here!" he turned off the ignition and took out the keys. We headed to the shopping carts and inserted a dollar on the lock to unlock it.

"I'll push!"

"Excuse me? I'll push,"

"No,"

"Yes,"

"No,"

"Yes,"

"No,"

"We'll buy steak for today's picnic,"

"Fine," eventually, he ended pushing the cart because I left it unattended for a moment.

"Do you want some cookies?"

"Yes! Chocolate chip cookies," he beamed as he took the pack of cookies from my hand and placed it in the cart. The cart was nearly full now and we had cleaning supplies, meat, vegetables and all the ingredients I needed to last the week's meals.

Now we were just walking down every aisle to find more food for our little picnic later on. He grabbed some chips for us to try on later and I grabbed some soda and juices. Instead of lining up for a cashier to ring up our items, I pulled Adam and the cart to the self packing station.

"Let's do it ourselves so we don't need to queue up." I pressed some buttons on the screen and started scanning the items, separating the food items from cleaning supplies. Adam helped me pack all the items into bags and placed it back on the cart.

Before I could dig for my card in my purse, Adam swiped his card through the machine.

"Adam!" I turned to him, eyebrows furrowed.

"What?" He looked at me, smiling as he punched his pin onto the machine.

"It's my groceries!"

"Yeah but I'm eating as well."

"But that was so expensive!"

"You can pay for our next date," I blushed at his comment, it didn't register in my head that the picnic later on was a date.

"Okay," I responded, starting to get nervous for our date later on. I haven't been on a date for almost two years now.

"So you're agreeing that today's date?" He smiled widely at me, showing all his teeth. Oh my goodness what do I say!

"Today's a date?"

"If you want it to be," he whispered, still looking at me, his gaze softening as I looked back at him trying to come up with an answer.

"Do you want it to be?" I managed to choke out.

"Yes,"

"Then yes, today's a date."

He smiled even wider, I didn't know it was even possible since he was already smiling to widely before.

"Then prepare to have the best day ever," he pushed the cart to his car even quickly, his long strides making it impossible for me to catch up.

"And how do you know I'll have the best day ever?"

"Because I will sure of it,"

"And if it's not?"

"I have the rest of the two weeks to make it happen."
