"Adam!" Katie exclaimed as I heard her rip the door open. I was brushing my teeth as I peeked at the handsome man standing at our doorway.
"Hey, I figured we'll have an early date today," he smiled and awkwardly glanced at Katie as if asking for permission.
"Why don't you watch some television while I get this lady ready?" Katie stepped aside and gestured for Adam to come in. He was clad in a white shirt and his usual trousers, his hair was still damp from the shower and I could smell the familiar aftershave he uses.
"Got it. I'll be crashing in El's room," he proceeded to my side of the room as I was left with Katie who was wriggling her eyebrows at me.
"El? That's new," she mouthed as he was out of sight.
"Whatever,"
"Do you know where you're going?" She inquired as she braided my hair for me.
"I honestly don't know where we're going. I actually requested all my classes to be moved two weeks from now. We're going on as much dates until he leaves because we wanted to make full use of the time we have left. Thank God I'm only completing my extra classes now."
"I love you Liz, please still be on guard." Katie reminded gently as she spun me around and pulled some strands of my hair to frame my face a little.
"He makes me feel at ease," I admitted as she sat me on the toilet seat and dusted as little bit of powder onto my face and dabbed some lipstick on my lips.
"I can see the way he looks at you. He's obviously in love."
"I don't want to think about it,"
"Well once he leaves we got tons to talk about," she said as she turned me to the mirror to look at myself. I had red lipstick on and it brightened up my entire complexion.
"About you too, you're almost near the finish line. Why not finish up and get your degree?"
"I'm still thinking about it."
"Think practically Bee." I gave her a tight squeeze and thanked her for getting me ready. We quickly headed to her closet and she put me in a jumper and white shirt. So I was basically matching with Adam. After I was all set, I headed to my side of the room and Adam was on my desk, writing. He quickly slipped the paper into his pockets and beamed at me. He drank my appearance in and drowned me in compliments.
"You're so cute," Katie hugged me from behind and then pushed me aside to go to my bed.
"You guys should get going," she motioned Adam to go and she flopped on my bed to replace him.
"Thanks Katie, we'll be back in a few days." Adam smiled and took my hand as we headed to the front door.
"Days?" I asked, I was rather surprised as he grabbed a duffel bag on the sofa. It was filled with my clothes and toiletries.
"Katie knew, I've been planning this for a couple days now. She packed everything you will need so don't worry."
"Where are we going?"
"That's for me to know and for you to find out. First we have to see Gramm," we walked to the elevator as he held my hand in his and my bag in the other.
"I haven't visited her in so long. I want to eat too,"
"We'll eat with her," he reassured and before I know it, we were pulling up at the familiar coffee shop.
"Phoebe!" I greeted and enveloped the woman in my arms. She smelled like brownies and flowers.
"How are you dearie? Is Adam treating you like a princess?" She smiled cheekily and glanced at Adam, who was visibly embarrassed.
"I've been well. Sometimes, he gives me food so I'm pretty content." I laughed and we ended up going into the coffee shop as we continued our conversation.
I told her about our dates so far leaving out the things we talked about. As we ate our sandwiches, Phoebe updated us about all the happenings in the coffee shop and she even told us that Henry visited her a couple times with flowers. And now that I think about it, they would make a great match. Their personalities are so similar yet clashes in a way.
Adam told her about the trip he was planning to make with me and that he was going to be gone for a few days. After an hour had passed, we decided it was time to head for the road before the traffic started. We hugged Phoebe goodbye and headed to the car.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll find out!" He shook his head and backed up on the main road. We waved at Phoebe once more and Adam sped off heading to the highway.
"We forgot to buy snacks!" I exclaimed, a few minutes into our drive. He used one hand to grab a basket from the back seats and it was filled with snacks. There were nuts, dried fruits, gronola bars, chips and chocolate bars. We even had bottled drinks prepared.
"Wow, we could drive for days and I would completely be satisfied," I grinned, eyeing the bag of salted egg potato chips.
"Just take whatever. We have a six hour drive to go."
"Can I drive next?" I asked as I tore open the bag of chips. They were simply delightful to eat. I've been wanting to buy these chips for weeks now but they were too pricey for my liking.
"Yes at the pit stop. Which is an hour and a half away from now."
"Well then I'll have to entertain you!" I replied excitedly. I never been to a road trip before and to have Adam with me was really a great experience because he was a really fun companion. After chatting for almost an hour, I turned the music up and Taylor Swift 's songs started playing. Surprisingly, Adam joined me for most of the songs and had a full on car concert with me.
