I poked his face a little as Adam stirred soundly in his sleep. It was almost lunch time already and we have yet to go to the orphanage. After figuring out that he needed to sleep some more, I got up from the bed and headed to my dresser. Katie's bed was so comfortable and I needed to remind myself to get a new mattress once I graduate. I picked out a yellow floral dress and a fresh pair of underwear along with my dirty ass makeup bag and tiptoed to the bathroom to get ready.
I took a quick shower and dried myself with the hand towel I kept in the drawers. Then, I threw on my clothes and dusted a little bit of makeup on my bare face. As I brushed my hair, there was knock on the door.
"Liz," Katie called from the other side. I pulled the door open and gave her the biggest hug I could.
"Where have you been!?" I whispered, half shouting.
"I've been at my parents' place. I got in a huge fight with Nathan." She replied, still holding me in her arms.
"Why? What happened?" I pulled away from but still held her at arm's length.
"Well we were booking our Singapore trip a year from last week. We figured to get college over with before going overseas and when we booked the ticket, my countdown appeared." Small black numbers appeared under her sleeves as she held it up to me to see.
"So your soulmate is in Singapore?"
"Probably. Nathan isn't very pleased about it."
"When the time comes though Katie, who will you choose?"
"Nathan of course, by then we're together for seven long years."
"Katie you know it isn't that easy,"
"I know but -," she was cut off as Adam came out of my side of the room. Her snapped towards him and then snapped back at me. She shot me a knowing look before letting me go. You got tons to tell me look was plastered all over her face.
"Katie, long time no see,"
"Hey Adam. How are you?" She smiled widely and gave him a side hug.
"I'm fine, thanks. Hope you didn't mind me crashing. You want to join us for breakfast?" He offered, throwing a quick glance at me.
"I don't mind, not at all! Plus it's almost noon, I think you guys skipped breakfast" She waved him off after giving us both both a wink and started walking to her bed.
"I slept on your bed!" I called after her as she closed her curtain, I could feel my entire face heating up. We could hear her rummaging through her closet and I turned to Adam and smiled at him sheepishly.
"You slept well?" Adam asked as I started picking up all my things from the counters.
"Yeah, Katie 's bed is like a cloud. Did you?" Adam held his arms out and took my makeup bag and dirty clothes without a word. Then we headed to my side of the room as he tossed my dirty clothes into the hamper.
"Yep! Your bed is so much better than a couch."
"You can always borrow my extra mattress,"
"For real?"
"Yes, anyway before we head out to the orphanage, what do you wanna eat?"
"I was hoping you can decide, I'm down for anything right now." He spoke as he searched for clothing in the duffel bag he brought last night.
"Let's just ask Katie later so she can decide," I whispered and headed to the kitchen to get the cupcakes ready for our departure.
"Guys, you ready?" Katie called from the hallway and popped her head into the kitchen.
"Adam's almost done," I smiled and gestured her to come in and taste one of the cupcakes we baked last night.
"You made this from scratch? It's so good!"
"Kinda, I didn't know how to do it all. Adam helped me,"
"What's going on with you and Adam?" she sat on our counter and wiggled her eyebrows as she took another bite from the cupcake in her hands.
"We're going on dates, today's the fourth date. I'll tell you more when it's all over."
"What do you mean?"
"He's leaving in less than two weeks,"
"Liz,"
"I know, don't worry. I'm really being practical here and I'm using my brain this time." I assured her as she hopped off the counter and held me against her body.
"I just don't want you hurt."
"I know. I don't want to get hurt either." We held each other in our small kitchen before pulling apart to the sound of the bathroom door opening.
"Hey, you need any help?" Adam asked as he stood at our doorway wearing dark jeans and a tank top under his blue flannel shirt. He was still drying his hair with the towel I lent him.
"I'm all set, let's go?" I smiled and turned to Katie and him, nodding at the boxes of cupcakes behind me.
"Yep, just gotta grab my car keys." He smiled and headed to the bedroom, I could hear him picking up his keys from the dresser.
"You got a lot to tell me!" Katie half whispered, a cheeky grin plasted on her face.
"I know! Just be patient."
"Bee, I need every detail." Katie whispered again before Adam stepped into view and nodded to the door. He picked up the boxes of cupcakes behind me and held the door open for us. He looked so fucking good and only God knows how I'm trying so hard to keep my cool.
"So Katie, where do you wanna eat?" Adam asked as we headed to the elevators. Katie's eyes shot up and grinned widely, I know exactly what she was thinking about and I am excited myself. It was going to be a really long day, especially with Katie around.
A/N: I am terrible!! The rank of this story like dropped hahaha I've been so busy and I don't feel excited writing it, so I'm waiting for that feeling to come back because it reflects in my writing. I hope you enjoy. Next chapter would be about their lunch date with Katie and a trip to visit children!!
