Running Into Noah

RIN/Chapter 3

Mike woke me up extra early to finish packing all my bags, luckily we were leaving before Tom had to go to work.

"Now, remember to get everything you need because if you forget your toothbrush you are not using mine." Mike said in a motherly tone and I just laughed at him.

"I will steal your toothbrush if I want." I said and he just playfully glared at me.

"I'll be in the car." He said as he took all his bags and some of mine. "Don't take too long." He said before he shut the door.

I stood in the Livingston for a moment until I decided to go into the kitchen and talk to Tom but he just walked out.

"Oh, I was just going to come talk to you." Tom said and I smiled,

"Yeah I was too." I said as we sat down on the leather couch. "It's going to be weird spending Christmas apart."

"Yeah." Tom said as he nodded his head. "But I want you to have fun." He said as he grabbed my hand.

"Same to you." I said but gave him a warning look, "But not to much fun." I said and he laughed at me.

"Now how will I ever be able to have too much fun without you?" He asks and I just laugh at him.

I kissed Tom and took my bags, "See you in a couple weeks." I said and he smiled at me.

"Call me when you land." He said and I was confused until I remember that Mike lied about the plane tickets.

"I will." I said shutting the door and walking to the elevator.

When I got down and outside I was freezing, the wheatear was getting worse each day. I saw Mike in his car trying to get warm by the heat coming from the car.

I knocked on the window and pointed to the back so he can open the truck so I could throw my things in there. When I got in the car I was shaking but it didn't last cause the car was so warm.

"Ready?" Mike asked me and I nodded my head.

I looked at my apartment and up to our window and smiled,

"Ready."

Apparently we actually were going on a plane, Mike said we can get there faster this way and he got free rides for being in the army and all.

So when I woke up the next morning I wasn't surprised we were already at the airport in our town. Mike woke me up and grabbed my big bag and his things and rushed us to his car that was able to get here in time.

"Why are you in such a rush? I ask him and he just smirks at me.

"Because I want hot chocolate!" He said and I stopped in my tracks. "Dani..." Mike says and I cross my hands over my chest and glare at him.

"I'm not going to Noah's." I said and he pouted.

"We won't stay long, just I want some hot coco and we will be at your moms." Mike said and I took a deep breath.

You can do this, Dani. Just for the hot coco.

"Fine." I said through clenched teeth. "Just for the hot coco though." I said in a stern voice and Mike threw the things in the back. "And we're going to my place first." I said as I buckled myself up.

"Okay." Mike said as he put the car in drive and headed over to my house.

My stomach started to knot up as I remember the old streets that I used to walk by and my breathing stopped when we quickly passed Noah's street, I kept my eyes on my lap as we passed just so I wouldn't see it.

When Mike got to my drive way we walked up the stairs and I rung the door bell and waited for someone to answer it but no one did.

Someone comes outside from next door and smiles at me. "Hi, are you looking for Rita?" She asks me and I nod my head. "Oh, her and her husband went out on vacation for a while, they will be back home in about a week or so."

I frowned at the old little lady in front if me and looked up to Mike who also looked confused.

"She knew I was coming, she said she was going to be home when I came back." I said to Mike, my frown deepening.

I have rarely seen my mom in a long time and I wanted to see her...

"It's fine, I'm sure Tori would let us stay at her place until your mom comes back." Mike said as he headed to the car and I followed.

"So I'm going to have to be with Noah." I said and Mike nodded his head. "Is he still, you know..."

"Mad at you?" Mike asks and I look over to him with a worried expression. "Probably." He says in all honesty. "Probably not." He says as he buckles up and drives off to Noah's.

When we got to Noah's I was shaking as my hand knocked on the door and when it slowly opened I gulped loudly but felt complete relief when I saw Tori at the door way.

I smiled happily as she literally attacked me. She was still beautiful even though she had a wrinkle here and there, her brown eyes were full of life still and it made me happy seeing her again.

"What in the name of hell is going on, Tori?" A deep voice asked and in came Nick looking as aged up like his wife. "Dani." Nick says in disbelief.

"Hi." I said to him as I rushed over and hugged him. I looked at the two as they stood there all old and wrinkly. My eyes started to tear up. They were getting old. I frowned but they didn't notice because Mike came in singing a Christmas carol and they laughed and hugged him.

"Tori." I said once everyone calmed down. "Is it okay if Mike and I stay here for a week, my mom isn't home yet-"

"Wasn't that the plan?" She asked me and covered her mouth. "I mean, your mother told me that. Yes. Yes you can stay." She quickly said and I gave her a confused look.

"Plan?" I asked looking over to Mike who was trying to avoid eye contact. "I need to shower." I said as I got up and took my bag to the nearest shower.

I swear if this was planned I'm going to go out if control.

"Welcome back!" I heard Mike yell to me and I just mumbled a couple cuss words as I shut the bathroom door shut.

I got out the shower a little while after and we were all in the dinning room eating but Noah still wasn't home.

"I swear that boy has changed so much since he was a kid." Tori mumbled, mostly to herself but everyone heard. I frowned at my plate and couldn't stop thinking that it was my fault that Noah changed his ways.

But then again, that's what happens when you grow up. You change. So maybe it wasn't because of me.

"Kids change." Nick said as he added some salt on his chicken. "It happens."

Mike agreed with Nick and stuffed his face with food. "Do you guys even know where he is?" He asked them and they looked at me but quickly looked away and shook their heads.

"What?" I ask making them look back at me.

"Nothing." Tori quickly said and I started getting annoyed.

"No, you can say it." I wanted to know why they looked at me like that. Does Noah know I'm here and isn't trying to come home to see me?

That would suck.

"He's on a date." Tori says and I tried to keep my face blank and I guess I did since they looked a little shocked at me as I smiled and said.

"Okay."

A date?!

Now this sucks even more.
