I helped Tori clean up after dinner and I was silently drying the plates as she handed them to me.
"So, how are you and Tom?" She asks and I jump a little. The silence was getting to me so I didn't expect her to talk.
"Alright." I said as I shrugged my shoulders. "He's just probably heading over to his bosses cottage in the middle of nowhere like all the other times.." I mumbled angrily.
Honestly I wasn't mad at Tom. I think I was mad about Noah. I still can't believe he went on a date. I mean, okay. It's something he should be doing but it's just getting to me.
"Well, have you ever gone with him down there?" Tori asks and I nod my head.
"Yeah, it's so boring." I said and she laughs. "That's why I came back home." I said, and to see your son. But we won't be saying that out loud.
"Well good, because I love having you around." Tori said with a big smile. "I feel like a mother to a teenage again when I see you and Mike over." She sounded kind of sad, "Noah just gotten so big over the years and seeing you and Mike just shows me that you're all growing so old!" She cried as she hugged me with her soapy wet hands.
I patted her back before turning off the water. "Come on, let's bring you to the living room." I said as I brought a crying Tori to her living room couch.
"I'm sorry." She apologized as she try to cover her soft cry with a laugh. "It's just hard, you know?" I nodded my head.
I understand her completely, when I saw how older they got it got to me for sure.
"Don't worry." I said to her, "It's li-"
"Tori." Mike said as he popped his head through the living rooms arch. "Someone's on the phone for you..." He said.
I didn't hear the phone ring? Maybe it was blocked out my Tori's sobs.
"The phone rang?" Tori asked. "Oh, it might be Mindy!" She squealed as she got up and rushed out the room.
I sat by myself in their living room and I took this alone time to look around.
It has changed, obviously. I doubt they would want to keep it the same as they always had it. But it feels weird looking at it like this, I feel awkward seeing how big their tv is now, now much books they had in their bookshelves- which were practically empty when I last saw them- and it was just weird that I was not there to see then fix this up or even help them with it.
I heard Mike come back into the living room, he was probably giving some time for Tori to talk to her old friend.
I took a deep breath and smiled to myself as I looked down. I need to ask him a question that's probably going to make me look stupid because I said I didn't care.
"Mike," I started as I stood up a little. "Do you think Noah would come home soon?" I asked as I turned around and my heart stopped completely.
I think I died for a minute...
Noah walked further into the living room and he had a smile so big, but he bit down on his lower lip to stop it from showing, and behind him was everyone else as they watched us with eager eyes.
Noah looked so much older. His eyebrows got a little fuzzier but he kept then in good condition, his eyes looked like they changed to more of a greenish color and he defiantly was working out more even though he was wearing a baggy shirt I can still see his big biceps. He had a gray shirt and dark jeans that fit him perfectly. His hair was styled messily but it was still up the way he always used to do it back in high school.
I quickly shot up from my seat and just stood still as Noah looked me up and down. I blushed under his gaze but quickly cleared my throat.
"Noah.." I said breathlessly.
"Dani.." His voice, it was so deep and it send chills all over me. He looked so attractive and grown up.
Holy shit, did these past four years do Noah good.
I could hear Tori laugh of pure joy as she hopped around and held onto Nick and Mike.
"Okay, lets give them some privacy." Nick said to Tori but she frowned.
"I wanna see what they're going to do..." She whispered loudly which made me blush.
Are we going to do anything?
Probably not...
Nick and Tori left and Mike stood at the arch and made kissy faces which made me blush more and more. He wiggled his eyebrows and then Nick dragged him away as he sent me a smile.
I looked back to Noah and saw that he was still staring at me, like he was examining me from afar and was to scared to step any closer.
If he was to step closer I might have attacked him with a big Dani hug because I missed him so much and just wanted to be held by him.
My heart began to race and my palms became extremely sweaty as we held eye contact and didn't move from our spots.
I might just die.
