Chapter 16

"So, What are you doing here?" Kakashi had asked Naruto and Mito who were standing in front of his Hokage desk.

"Mito-chan said that she was coming to see you, so I tagged along." Naruto explained.

Kakashi sighed boredly raising his head to Mito lazily, "Mito, What is it?"

Mito's face suddenly turned serious. Very serious. "There have been incident of Hidden Leaf shinobi going missing. Lately I've been losing a lot of scents belonging to the chakra of Hidden Leaf shinobi." Mito began.

"Going missing?" Naruto asked, a bit confused.

Mito nodded.

"So you've noticed it too, Mito." Kakashi sighed.

"You were already aware of it, Kakashi-sensei?" Mito questioned.

"Yes. But why were you investigating something like that?"

"Well that's the thing, I memorized all of the scents of the Hidden Leaf shinobi and every now and then I sniff the air to see if everything's alright in the village and that no ones in trouble... and besides, there's a regular at Ino's flower shop—" Mito had not yet finished her sentence before everyone in the room heard a loud boom sound.

"It's coming from the Aun Gate." Kakashi said.

The three looked through the window while Kakashi opened it only to notice black smoke was free in the air.

"I'll go check it out, 'ttebayo." Naruto said jumping out of the window then from roof to roof.

"Wait, Naruto! I'm coming with you, Shannerō!" Mito called out as she followed him.

"Hey, you two!" Kakashi called only to see that they were already gone. He sighed. "I'm counting on you."

Mito and Naruto had just stopped in their tracks noticing the security unit fighting off some people who seemed to be acting zombie-like "it's the security unit." Mito noticed. "Their chakra... it smells... familiar..." Mito said.

"Why are they only using defense?" Naruto asked, sweating nervously along with Mito. "I'm gonna help 'em!" Naruto said jumping of the roof that he and Mito had stopped at recently then joined the security unit.

"Wait!" Mito said suddenly, as she had remembered why their chakra smelt familiar along with Ino who had showed up all of a sudden along with Shikamaru and Choji.

"Ino? Shikamaru... Choji?" Naruto said confused.

When Mito noticed the former team 10 show up, she joined them as she jumped off of the roof.

"It can't be..." Ino said shivering while pointing hesitantly and worriedly at one of the zombie-like humans. "Tadaichi-san... That's Tadaichi-san!" She said in disbelief.

"Tadaichi-san? You mean your regular from the flower shop?" Mito asked in doubt.

Ino nodded.

"So that's why his chakra scent was familiar..." Mito told herself.

"Are you sure that's him Ino?" Shikamaru Asked.

"There's no mistake!" Ino said. "But he'd never turn against the Hidden Leaf! So why?"

"There's a possibility that he's under a genjutsu." Shikamaru said.

"Hold on." Mito said raising her index finger at Shikamaru as a sign for him to wait a second.

She began sniffing softly, "I smell... an evil-like chakra inside him... separate from his own chakra... the same goes for the rest!" Mito said worriedly. "But something is bothering me all of the chakra scents are so familiar..." Mito thought for a second before her head snapped in realization. She snapped her fingers, "that's it! These people... these people are the ones that I noticed went missing."
