with a heavy heart and weakened knees, daniel watched hwayoung walk away, her figure fading and her shadow became harder to perceive. but what he didn't see, was her tear-stained face, longing to look back at him for the last time.

the girl sobbed quietly, covering her mouth so she wouldn't let out a sound. for she knew that if he heard her cry, it would be harder for him to let her go.

hwayoung walked into her dorm, holding her hand out above her to signify her farewell. daniel smiled in relief, thinking that she was perfectly fine.

once she realized her roommate wasn't present, hwayoung hurriedly kneeled down against the cabinets and opened them wide. she ransacked through her things and took them out one by one. she opened a separate luggage and started packing.

as she scanned every single object, remembering the memories each thing held, and the story behind them, she thought to herself,

they were right, one of the worst feelings in this world was knowing you had to part ways with the people who made you feel the happiest.

but as she sat there, recalling every emotion that she had felt for the past few months, it dawned on her that there was always one person who made her feel something a lot different from the others.

i'll come back for you.

she instilled the thought in her heart, almost as if there was a lock in her heart that only that person can unlock.

her hands hover over the luggage's zipper, closing it tight and making sure it was sealed. she once again glanced around the room, and she thought it looked and felt a little emptier than before, without the stream of pictures on the wall or the decorations on top of the wooden assemblages.

all that was left was jinhee's side of the room, that was covered with different shades of purple. she picked up a pink box from the floor, one she had treasured and prepared to leave behind, ever since the day she knew what she was going to do.

gently, she swept her hand across the box, a single tear dropping on it's surface. she placed it on jinhee's bed, and took the chance to go out.

not taking a second glance, hwayoung left. without a trace, without a warning. just a small box was prepared for the people she left behind.

. . .

jihoon and woojin went out of their practice studio, their panting and sweaty selves wanting to get some air outside. they agreed to go out to eat ice cream by the park.

" i'd like a caramel, please. how about you?" woojin turned to jihoon, who seemed to space out.

"strawb-" he hesitated, remembering something that surfaced on his mind. " uh nevermind, i think i'll have the chocolate ice cream today." he smiled slightly, finding the thought amusing.

woojin looked at the boy weirdly, but proceeded to pay for the ice creams anyway. " here you go." the old man handed them the two cones. they sat down a wooden bench near the stall and nibbled away.

woojin looked at jihoon who was barely eating his ice cream. " that's gonna melt if you don't eat it." he said. jihoon simply smiled, still not consuming the frozen delicacy.

" yah, why did i even treat you if you're not going to eat the ice cream?" woojin's voice raised a little bit. he sighed, giving up when jihoon still didn't move nor talk. the ice cream started melting, streaks of chocolate liquid flowing on jihoon's fingers. he watched the ice cream melt away.

" i thought you said you would never try any other ice cream flavor besides strawberry?" woojin pointed out, eating a portion of his caramel ice cream.

" this is her favorite." jihoon muttered, not looking at woojin but still at the ice cream.

woojin's mouth parted, his head bobbing vertically in understanding. " wish i knew the things she likes as much as you do." woojin earnestly said.

jihoon looked at the boy beside him, dying to ask one particular question in mind.

" why didn't you tell her you liked her?" jihoon straightforwardly asked. woojin just laughed, but his happy expression slowly became a sad one, one where his eyes gave off the feeling of regret.

" why would i when i know that there people capable of giving her more love than i can?" he replied.

" i chose not to tell her because i know she'd be more confused on what to feel. i like her, i really do. and i realized that no other girl could make me feel so lucky to have met her. i like her to a point where i'd just choose to watch her love someone else from afar." he confessed, and jihoon swore that something in his chest sunk.

" she made everything feel like a rehearsal, but sadly it was meant to stay that way. it wasn't meant for show." jihoon looked at woojin carefully as he stared into the distance. his satisfied yet regretful smile made him go deep into realization.
