chapter 4: New experiences.

4.1. Deja vu

Livie and Sans had been avoiding eachother for a few days already as this became very worrysome for others around them. One day Livie received an invitation to the big reveal of the portal project Sans and Alphys were working on togheter. 'it's finally done? oh but wait...sans probably does'nt want me there...we cant avoid eachother forever and besides it would make alphys sad if i did'nt show up' Livie thought to herself with a big smile "then it's settled, i will be going" she sais with determination. She soon gotten ready to leave but she forgotten that her car was beeing borrowed by Glenn at the time as she sighed deeply meaning she would have to teleport over there. Livie closes her eyes as she started to concentrate her magic and in a quick second she ported all the way infront of the smience building. When Livie entered the building she noticed that everyone was formally dressed and well she was dressed in her own way. She was wearing a long white hoodie wich she gotten costum made for her and underneath she was wearing a purple shirt with black pants. Gaster would walk over to her with a smile as he was just glad she could make it and extended his arm towards her. Livie gently grabbed his arm as it was time for everyone to go to the huge testing room and see the reveal. Alphys and Sans were standing there with big and enthousiastic smiles on their faces ready to reveal the machine. "l-lady's and gentlemen and fellow monsters, w-we present to you-" Alphys sais as she pushes a button making a big wall slide down into the floor revealing the portal. Sans then took over the speech as though they rehearsed it "our portals! you might be wondering where the other one might be right? welp we moved it somewhere else inside the building just to show you all that our machine works properly". 'heh, these nerds are so cute with their rehearsed speeches' Livie thought to herself as she noticed Undyne hardly keeping her enthousiasm under control. The crowd was amazed by the huge portal standing infront of them as they clapped. Livie started to look around during the speech only to see someone quickly running away from the control module '...this cant be good' she thought to herself but just when she wanted to sign to Sans about it, the machine was turned on and the control module was beeping loudly making the crowd worry a little bit. Alphys looks at Sans before she escorted everyone to the safe room as they watched how Sans tried to fix the control module. The door was still open and livie finally gotten out of the crowd as she shouts Sans's name out but she did'nt respond. "sans get out of there!!!" Livie shouts again and once again he ignored her pleads as the portal started to swirl and suck stuff inside it. Livie started to worry and panick wich clouded her train of thought. In that moment Livie ran towards Sans and pulled him away from the control module as she changed into her full form to keep her ground. She would guide him back towards the safe room but she could feel her feet slipping away from the floor and gravity changing inside the room as she made his soul blue and flung him towards the safe room only for her to completely lose grip on the floor. Sans crashed into the wall making him hit his head hard against it as he kept hearing a ringing noise before his vision became blurry. Sans blacked out and by the time he woke up, he noticed he was inside a hospital room. He glanced around as he saw Papyrus "...pap?" his voice sounded raspy and soft. Papyrus quickly gotten up with a smile "i am here brother" he sais as he holds his hand. Gaster came inside the room with a smile as he asks "how are you feeling sans?" wich Sans replied "i have a headache and i feel aching pain over my chest area but otherthen that i'm fine". Sans noticed everyone else standing in the hallway as he focused his gaze back to Gaster. "do you remember anything of what happend?" Gaster asks again as Sans closes his eyes trying reall hard to remember what had happend. Flashes of images appeared inside his head as he started to remember and the last one startled him the most. His last memory before blacking out was that of Livie who had tears in her eyesockets but also a big smile on her face before she got sucked inside the portal. His eyesockets opend up widely as he looks at Papyrus and Gaster "where is liv?" he was mett with silence as he sat up quickly. The sudden movement caused pain to surge through his entire body but he did'nt care as he repeated his question "where is liv?!!" this time he raised his voice. Papyrus looks at Sans with a sad ecpression on his face making Sans's hands tremble. "she got...sucked into the portal while she tried to save you" Papyrus sais gently. This only caused Sans to go into a panick attack as he clutched his head "not again...NOT again!...my fault...MY fault" Sans mumbled through his rapid breathing. Sans started hyperventilating as Gaster pushed the panick button next to Sans's bed and nurses rushed inside the room. Gaster and Papyrus were forced to leave the room as they tried to calm Sans down but he could not hear anything but his own thoughts and words, so the nurses had no choice but to sedate him. The nurses came outside as they told everyone he needed his rest and could not receive any visitors until he was awake. So everyone left the hospital accept for Papyrus, Gaster, Alphys and Undyne. "i-i cant believe our machine malfunctioned like that...it worked fine yesterday" Alphys sais as she felt guilty for what had happend. Gaster was looking on his tablet as he had a small suspicion that the machine was tampered with. "we need to go back to the smience building" he said as the other three looked at him. "why?" Undyne asks as this was the same question Alphys and Papyrus had in their minds. "i have a theory i want to confirm" Gaster vaguely sais as they made their way back to the cars on the parking lot. Eventually they made it back to smience building and headed to the security system of the building wich Gaster had clearance to since he was made head scientist along with a few others. Gaster asked the guard if they could see the camera footage of when the accident happend wich the guard gladly provided them. Gaster kept looking at the images over and over again as Undyne finally asks "what are you looking for?" wich Gaster replied by stopping the image and pointing towards the figure running away "this right here". "b-but that is Dr.richard!" Alphys sais as Gaster downloads the footage onto his phone before heading of to towards the lab Dr.Richard works in. Once there they confronted him with what they discovered and ofcours he denied it until they showed him the footage. The guards came inside to escort him towards the front so the police could take him with them for interogation. "but this still does not bring back livie. how are we going to bring her back?" Papyrus sais as Gaster sighs and for the first time in his life he had no answer to it. Alphys's phone rang as she picked up "h-hello...sans?...o-oh oke" Alphys sais as she puts Sans on speaker. "listen *cough* i thought long about this...but what if liv was sent towards an alternate universe?" sans sais as he was breathing heavely through the phone. "ofcours! he did not really sabotage the portal he just made the function different...but that means we need to make new calculations and adjust the machine itself" Gaster explains. "well, if it's the only way to get her back then why wont we try it?" Undyne sais. Suprisingly Undyne was right, it was the only lead they had to get Livie back. "i will help you guys to" Sans sais but Gaster quickly replied "sans i know you want to help. but the only way for you to help us is to heal and get your strength back". Sans sighed and agreed before he hung up. 'hold on livie, we will get you back...whereever you are' Gaster thought to himself.
