Her heart was racing, she could feel her blood being pumped throughout her body. At least hers was still in her body. She attempted to swallow but the arm around her neck persisted in being difficult. Her breaths short but frequent. She could feel her entire body and mind ready to break. The tears poured out of her eyes silently and down her dirt and dust covered face. She didn't dare make a sound, not again. She didn't want to make them angrier. Her body was hot, all except for the cold barrel of the sleek handgun pressed against her temple.
The distant sound of gunshots broke through everything else. It was a weird feeling, every sound seemed distant but she knew all to well that they were so near. Her head pounded, all she could think about is how she hoped this would all end. Debry filled the air, that mixed with the tears in her eyes made it hard to see but still, she knew everyone in front of her. They all crouched together, scared. Her best friend amongst them. The fear in their eyes and all she could do was watch.
Why? Why did this have to happen to them?
