Idiots! Complete and total IDIOTS! Conrad yelled inside his head. He slammed down the earpiece that was previously in his ear on the table, not wishing to hear anymore. He did not have time for setbacks. He sat down on his chair, considering the options he had. There were very few, considering the test would be beginning in, he checked his watch, three hours. The one he originally planned was out, as some imbecile had messed that up, and the problem wouldn't be fixed for another three to four days. The test after that wasn't ready either, that got messed up too, although not so much, and could very well be ready for the next test in two days.
The upcoming one though... there was a three hour deadline that Conrad didn't know how to meet. He could... no. Well, he could always take part of one test, one part that wasn't set back, and use it for now. He should have had a backup, but he didn't, which really ticked him off. He usually planned things in advance, and everything was, until about five minutes ago.
Well, the more tests I have, the more I get paid. It's not all bad. I just take part of one test and use it as a separate test. I get paid more and gain time to fix mistakes.

Although Jasmine was still incredibly tired, she still sat down for her after-meal stretching and exercising routine. She liked routine; routine meant she was in control, of herself at least. She did not have control over her anything else, but her little routine gave her a false sense of security, that she did have control over her circumstances, which she most certainly did not.
According to routine, the guards would come and get her for something or the disappearing slot would, again, brief her about the day's "activities." After that was done, she would come back here, or just stay here, and depending on how long it takes for whatever, she would sit for a bit.
It's a government run building, it runs or routine and schedule, just as all all the others have.
She, the previous day, had added something new to her routine of stretching: exercising the mind. Jasmine did this by thinking of a way out.
She thought about the tunnel, but it dead ended. there were pipes, the ones that carried the air, but they were too small for her to fit through. Other than that, there were no other options. She kept thinking though, something might come to her.
And something did.
She noticed that around the doorway, there was about an inch of ledge. Since it was close to the corner, (only about two feet away), she was able to climb into position (though it took awhile), a foot braced against the door frame and back against the wall.
Not a second too soon.
The guards came seconds later, and upon not seeing her in the room, automatically rushed in and looked around. While doing so, Jasmine silently dropped to the floor and ran out of the room. She heard the yells of the guards as they followed her. She had about five seconds on them, and promptly disappeared out of their sight. Taking random turns as she went, she was looking for a way out, hoping that they would lead her somewhere.
It was the same everywhere she went, just hallways, with doors. She had tried a few doors, but they were all locked. She assumed that instead of wasting time on locked doors, running was the best way not to get caught.
She turned into another hallway, and stopped. there were two guards running towards her. They almost looked surprised to see her, but the facial expression was quickly replaced by determination.
Scrambling backwards, Jasmine turned and ran back down the hallway she had just come from. She took another quick turn, hoping no more guards would come on a head on collision course with her again. Her hopes were quickly dashed, as yet another guard rounded the corner. She had to take the next turn to avoid him. Now with three guards on her tail, she started turning whenever possible, in an attempt to escape.
It was all in vain. Her strategy worked against her, as coming into her third turn using it, she ran into a guard. She was knocked over by the two hundred plus pound man, making an undignified 'umph' sound as she landed.
The other guards caught up as the mountain man picked the struggling Jasmine up. She kicked and punched, catching one of the guards in the chest. The kick sent him to the floor. The large man set her down so she was standing, which was a bad idea, as Jasmine turned on the two smaller guards that were still standing. A kick to the head send one down, and a punch to the stomach was caught by the guard. He retaliated with a quick jab at her head. She ducked, but didn't see the fist comming from behind. The large mountain man knocked her out with one swift movement, watching the her fall to the ground.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the second time in almost as many days, Jasmine woke to people looking in her face. Kat, Zoe, and everyone else was crowded around her. Kat and the other red-head, Daniel, both had blood on their face. She felt her own and felt the sticky presence there as well. The guy must have had something on his fingers, probably a ring.
"What happened to you two?" She asked.
"What happened to you?" They both asked simultaneously.
"Touché. I got whacked on the side of my head by a mountain man. You two?"
"Eh, just about the same." Daniel said.
"Me too." Kat replied.
"What did you do to get the quality treatment of this wonderful place?" Jasmine asked while attempting to sit up.
"Well, I decided to run for it-" Kat began, helping Jasmine, who interrupted her.
"How'd you get out?"
"I just flattened myself against the wall, and they thought I wasn't in the room. I slipped out behind them. Anywho, I ran about for a bit, but, they caught me." Looking at everyone else, she added, "Then I got unceremoniously tossed into the room, which also happened to you."
"Same happened to me," Daniel began. "But got out more violently than she did. I hid behind the wall, yes, but I hit one of them on the back of the head, the other was so stunned, he just watched me hightail it out of there. How'd yo-" He was cut off mid sentence, as the door opened again.
Everyone was surprised, everyone was already there, why was someone coming in?
Someone, obviously a boy, stepped into the room, unsure of what was happening. He looked at the kneeling, seated and otherwise grounded group of eleven, until they stood up. Twenty-two eyes stared back at him. Until-
"Oh, my go..." he began before he strode forward. Everyone stepped aside puzzled, except one. Jasmine stood there with a glazed, shell-shocked expression on her face. The boy took her in his arms and held her for the longest time. It took awhile before the rest of the group realized Jasmine was crying and muttering. The only thing they could understand was her saying , "You were dead."
