Hey guys!  Sorry it's been a while.  I have been on vacation with my family this past week.  So please excuse any mistakes you may see, I haven't had a chance to edit it yet.

Chapter Eighteen

–Two days later–

It was all over.

“American Airlines Flight 7162 is now boarding all passengers at gate 26.”

Brynne and Julie hugged, before Brynne had to rush off, finally realizing that their fun weekend was in fact over.  She had to go back to Boston and real life and Julie had to be back to work the next day.

All their Talladega stories would be just that – stories.  Stories they could tell people whom they knew, and receive the incredulous stares.  Honestly, who would believe the fairytale-like weekend actually happened unless they were there?

With a sigh, Brynne waved quickly at Julie and handed the flight attendant her ticket.  “Have a nice flight, miss,” the cheery flight attendant smiled.  She was just entirely too cheery for Brynne at the moment.

If only she knew, Brynne thought, If only she knew.

This wasn’t something that was enjoyable for her; no, if she could spend forever in the weekend she’d just spent, she would give up everything for it.

“Passengers, welcome to American Airlines Flight 7162, direct connection from Birmingham, Alabama to Boston, Massachusetts.  The flight should be approximately five hours and twenty three minutes.  Now, please buckle your lap belts, we’ve just been cleared for take-off.”

Brynne clicked her lap belt, and leaned back against the seat, closing her eyes.  As much as she loved Boston, right now it was the last place she wanted to be.

Julie clutched her purse to her side and quickly walked towards the exit of the airport with a sigh.  The weekend had been amazing; so much more than her or Brynne had ever thought it would be.  Honestly, who would have believed that they’d actually be able to meet Martin and befriend him and all his friends?

When she’d come up with the plan that she had to meet him while they were down in Talladega, she hadn’t been sure of it, it’d been a quick plan and it’d worked out, and she couldn’t believe it.  In her mind, it was like a dream.

With the doors in sight, Julie had to stop when her cell phone interrupted her reverie about the weekend.

“Hello?” she asked.

“Julie?”

She quickly walked the rest of the way to the doors, absentmindedly running a hand through her hair, even though he couldn’t see what her appearance looked like.  Before she could answer she had to take a couple deep breaths and swallow the lump in her throat.

“Yeah... hey.”

She just couldn’t believe he’d actually called her.

“What are ya up to?”

“Um... I just actually took Brynne to the airport, she had to go back to Boston today.”

“Yeah, I remembered you two were havin’ some girl time after the race, or I was gonna call ya earlier... but I didn’t wanna interrupt.”

A silent thrill rang through her, butterflies beating around her stomach.

“You could have interrupted us,” she said, “Not like we were doing anything.  We just had a two day chick flick marathon.  But, it was fun.”
