Chapter Ten
“Brynne, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s funny, because I know this girl named Brynne who lives in Boston; I talk to her all the time.”
“That’s really weird because I live in Boston and I’ve never run into anyone else with the same name as me...”
Martin chuckled and smiled, shaking his head. “Why didn’t you tell me you were going to be down here? First of all, you wouldn’t have had to wait in this damn line to see me.”
“What and miss watching all the girls in barely there clothes trying to throw themselves at you? That was quite the entertainment for Julie and I.”
“Julie?”
“Yeah, she’s over there,” Brynne pointed over to where Julie stood waiting for her and waved back at them.
“So that’s the infamous Julie.”
“That sure is.”
He turned his attention back to her, “And you’re the infamous Brynne that everyone has been dying to meet.”
She ducked her head and blushed, “I guess I am.”
They heard a voice clearing above Martin’s shoulder and both looked over at Josh. “The security guys want you to get this show on the road...”
“Oh, okay. Will you do me a favor?”
“Sure man.”
“Take Brynne and her friend to the back and entertain them until I’m done here.” He turned his gaze towards Brynne. “Then we’ll head back to the track and go out or something, okay?”
She nodded and turned towards Josh who was looking at her curiously. “Brynne? As in the Brynne?” he asked Martin, who nodded, “Well damn girl, it’s about time we met you, he only talks about you or to you all the time.”
Brynne shook her head as she began to follow Josh away, both stopping at Martin’s voice. “Josh’ll take good care of you girls and I’ll be back once I’m done.” Brynne nodded and smiled as she turned back and started following Josh towards Julie.
“So, your friend... she have a name?”
“She sure does... it’s Julie.”
“She single?” he asked curiously, watching her as they walked closer.
“She is, but she’s kind of set on Junior.”
“Damn!” Josh groaned, “Aren’t they all? I swear, if it weren’t for Martin giving me all them damn numbers after a signing, I’d never get any damn action. It’s always ‘Oh Junior! Oh Truex!’ What happened to ‘Oh Josh!’?”
She grinned at Josh; the answer to her earlier question about the phone numbers being answered without even having to ask it herself.
“What?” Josh asked.
Brynne shook her head as they got to Julie and stopped, “Nothing.”
“Hi Josh,” Julie said looking up at Josh and then quickly back at Brynne. “What the hell is going on here?”
“Josh is gonna take us to the back until Martin’s done, and then we’re going back to the track with him and maybe out tonight.”
“Um okay...” Julie nodded, trying to take it all in, “Well Josh, lead us back, and girl I want ALL the details.”
