Talia Booker
One Week Later
It had been a week since I came back home and things just seemed a little too..."back to normal" if you ask me. Knowing that Jocelyn and Serena were still lurking around rubbed me the wrong way, but Dean and Tevin claims that they'll be out of our hair soon enough; but I'll believe that when I see it.
"Can you just trust me when I say that I'm going to handle this?" Dean asked me. He was standing behind me, with his arms around my waist, as we both stood in front of the full length mirror.
"I trusted you to take care of this six months ago, but did you? No, you didn't." I said, rolling my eyes.
"I'ma let you keep talking all that shit, because I deserve it, but don't make it a habit."
"Don't you have to go pick Jude up? Why are you still sitting here talking to me?" I questioned, glaring at him. Though Jude wasn't completely out of the psychiatric hospital just yet, we were happy that he was able to spend the holidays with us. On top of that, I knew that he would get rid of Jocelyn this time around if Dean didn't do it. But then again...if Dean didn't do it then it would tell me that he was STILL in love with her, which would be the final straw for me and I'd leave his stupid ass.
"I'm going, I'm going." He chuckled, kissing my cheek.
"Can I ask you something?"
"When have you ever asked me if you could ask me a question?" He asked, arching an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes and turned towards him, crossing my arms.
"I know this is going to sound insecure of me, but I feel like I should ask anyways. Do you still love or have love for Jocelyn in any way?" He grabbed my face and kissed my lips, pressing his forehead against mine.
"I promise you that I have no feelings for her whatsoever." He assured me. I took a deep breath and nodded my head, as he pecked my lips. "I'm going to go pick up Jude and I'll be back in a minute."
"Okay, be careful and I love you."
"I love you too."

Long after Dean was gone, I decided to do the unthinkable and call up the last person that I would ever speak to again in my life. I know I shouldn't, because Dean would probably feel some type of way about, but the difference between me and him is...I don't love my ex anymore.
"Hey Quanie. Long time, no talk." I said, plopping down on the couch.
"Well if this isn't a surprise. What's up, Talia? I was just thinking about your fine ass." He said, making me roll my eyes.
"You still hot for me, huh?" I smirked.
"You damn right! Ima always have a thing for you baby girl. You was my first, my last, and my only."
"You sure about that? I could've sworn Jocelyn was your last, but okay." He sucked in his teeth and huffed, making me laugh cause he knew I was about to start some shit.
"I see you haven't changed at all. Mouth still as smart as its ever been."
"And that will never change, but I didn't call you to play catch up." I said.
"I figured that much. So what you want?"
"I'm calling about Jocelyn. Have you seen or heard from her?" I asked him.
"Nah. Why you calling about that girl anyways? What she done did to ya'll now?" He asked. I squinted my eyes, taking a deep breath as I looked down at my freshly manicured nails. Of all the years Quanie's known me, I guess he forgot that he could never lie to me, but for some odd reason...he's lying now as if I give two fucks about if he's seeing Jocelyn again.
"No reason. She's somehow friends with Sam's sister, Serena, and I was wondering if she knew where she was." I lied. I guess if he can lie, so can I. I thought to myself.
"I heard that she was looking for her brother, but you know I stopped fucking with them after I found out about what they did to you."
"Is that right?"
"You damn right, that's right!" He exclaimed. "I know our break up was all types of fucked up, but regardless on anything Talia...I still love you and that will never change. Yes, I know you're with that white boy now and ya'll got a kid or whatever, but my feelings for you will always be here."
"Good to know, but I have to go. If you see or hear from Jocelyn, can you please let me know?" I asked him, knowing damn well that he wasn't going to do it.
"I got you baby girl, and before you hang up, I gotta question." He said.
"What is it?"
"You sure that baby ain't mine? We did fuck one last time before-" He began, but I quickly cut him off.
"I'm very sure that my child isn't yours! For one, we weren't even on speaking terms when I conceived, and for two...my child is clearly mixed. Nice try though." He chuckled.
"I had a lil glimmer of hope that it would be mine, but aight then. As long as you're happy." He said, sounding sincere.
"I am very happy, Quanie." I told him. "You take care." I hung up the phone and laid down on the couch, sending Tevin a quick text message.
Me: I think I've found Jocelyn. She's shacked up over there with Quanie, which is crazy, but whatever. You know what you need to do.
Tevin's Stupid Ass: Say less. I'll get Zell over there to look into it and once Dean and I have a plan...we'll get rid of that bitch once and for all.
Me: Please and thank you.
Sitting my phone down on the coffee table, I closed my eyes and prepared myself for a little nap, but before I could even fully fall asleep...Bella's loud cries filled my ears. I groaned and climbed off the couch, hurrying upstairs to retrieve my daughter from her crib. I swear, a mother's work is never done.
