Get ready
"Poppy, calm down," I tell her through the phone. "I'm walking into the restaurant right now. I'll be over with the dress in forty minutes."
"Thank you," she breathes. "You're my hero."
"Just sit tight and I'll be over as soon as I can."
"OK, see you later." After hanging up I walk up to Luke who sends me a smile.
"Calum's in the back," he tells me.
"Thanks." I start heading to the kitchen entrance. "Emma wants you to come over tonight, by the way!"
When I duck into the kitchen I almost bump straight into Ashton. "Hey, Ash."
"Scotty, nice of you to drop by," he grins. "Calum's in the freezer."
"Never thought I'd hear those words strung together before," I mutter and Ashton chuckles. "Thanks, Ashton."
"No problem."
Just as Ashton told me I find Calum in the large freezer sifting through products. "Ma'am, you're going to have to leave, your hotness will melt everything kept in here."
"Shut up," I roll my eyes. "Did you have the keys?"
"Yeah, here." Calum fishes his apartment key out of the pocket in his apron. "Is Poppy freaking out?"
"Yeah," I sigh. "She's obsessed with George's family accepting her, because they're like über rich and won't just accept any simple commoner into their family."
"Wish her good luck from me," he jokes and he leans down to quickly kiss me.
"I will. See you tonight."
"Bye!" I rush past Luke on my way out and send him a quick wave. I am relieved that the traffic isn't too bad as I look out the cab window all the way to Calum's apartment.
I left one of my dresses at his place a few weeks ago and Poppy demands she needs to wear it to dinner with George and his parents. I don't get further than to Luke's room, because his door is pushed open and I see the large font spelling out OBSESSION in neon pink on the cover of a magazine on the floor.
Contemplating it for a moment I step inside the room and hunch down to pick it up. Emma must have left it here because I haven't brought over any of my work. When I bend down I notice a stack of magazines under Luke's bed and I am intrigued.
Sitting down and pulling the entire stack out onto the floor I sift through the different issues and there are ones from two years ago, so Emma isn't the one bringing them over. We throw most of them out or our apartment would be a mess.
A sticky note in different colors stick out of each and every issue and I flip one open to see what has apparently captured Luke's attention.
"What have you been reading, Luke?" I mutter.
