I am literally ashamed. I haven't updated in so long and now that I do so the chapter is super short.
I'm sorry.
...
I wake up to Calum shaking me by the shoulder. I barely open my eyes halfway and stick my hand out to shove in his face to hopefully get him to stop pestering me. "Come on, Scotty."
"No," I object and I it feels divine when press my cheek deeper into the soft pillow. "I don't wanna get up again."
"Scotty, we have to leave for the airport in like five minutes if we don't want to miss our flight."
"I don't care anymore. Go to England without me—just bring me home some chocolate. Have a good trip, Cal."
All of a sudden I feel him grabbing hold of both my wrists and he pulls me by the arms to sit up on the bed. He was probably right when he said I shouldn't have taken that quick nap before leaving. "We're going."
"It's four AM," I whine and the next second Calum has me thrown over his shoulder and he's carrying me through his apartment to set me down by the front door where our suitcases are patiently waiting for us.
I pout up at him and he smiles down at me. He pecks my lips before scurrying off to get our carryons. When he returns he hands me my backpack. "You got everything, right?"
"Um..." I look through the bag but start to panic quickly. "Don't hate me—but I can't find my passport."
"Are you kidding?"
"I swear I put it in the bag," I exasperate. "I swear."
"Yeah well it's not there so."
"Oh my God," I say as realization hits. "The coffee table."
"The what?"
"Last night Emma, Arden, and I had a Gilmore Girls marathon and I didn't have a coaster—and you know how Emma is about coasters."
"And you used your passport as a coaster?" I bite my lip at his raised voice and he runs a hand over his face. "What the hell, Scotty?"
"You're dating a lazy person, all right?" I drop the backpack to the floor. "I was comfortable on the couch and I didn't want to get up and I'd already put it down in the table earlier to not forget about it. It was the perfect plan, Calum."
"Except you did forget it."
"Stop looking at me like that," I whine and stomp once. "We'll just hurry over to my place to get it."
"I hope you did track in high school because you'll have to run up to your apartment at lightning speed." Calum throws his backpack over his shoulder. "Let's go."
...
"You know, I've only ever been out of the country once before," I say as I kick my shoes off to get comfortable in my seat on the plane.
"Really?"
"Yeah." I stuff my backpack down between my seat and the one in front of it. "Poppy and I went to Paris for a week after we graduated from high school."
"Maybe we can go to Paris sometime."
I smile at him and take his hand in mine to interlace our fingers. "I love you."
"I love you too." Calum leans his head back in his seat and shoots me a cheeky grin. "What magazines did you bring?"
"I got brought like five Cosmopolitans because I know they have your favorite quizzes."
"Sick."
"I already marked out the pages for you," I say as I pull a magazine out for him. "You packed the snacks, right?"
"I don't know, did I?" He pulls out a ziplock bag. "I made homemade chips."
"Salt and vinegar?"
"Salt and vinegar," he seconds and we hand each other what the other has brought for the flight.
Calum and I finish all of the quizzes as well has the chips that all have disappeared only about half an hour into the transatlantic nine hour flight. Because of the time difference Calum makes sure we don't sleep for longer than an hour and the rest of the time we spend either watching movies or eating whenever the flight attendants come up to us with food.
So after four movies, three courses, and five bags of snacks each, we finally land in London. I feel giddy and I can barely contain my excitement. Calum holds my hand to stop me from practically bouncing away. "Hey, calm down."
"I can't," I whine as we walk to the baggage claim. "Calum. We're in London."
"I'd be worried if we weren't."
"I can't wait to see everything, and we can go for walks along the river and find a cozy café and have breakfast dates and go on the buses."
"You're rambling again," he says with an amused tone to his voice.
"How can you not ramble when you're in London?"
"Because I've been here about seven times."
"Well no need to spoil it for me."
"You're right, I'm sorry," he smiles. "I'm really glad you could come with to celebrate my birthday."
"I wouldn't miss it for the world."
