"Mother.. please.. I.. I'm not sure I want to be seen wearing this.."
I ducked my head in the passenger's seat of the car, fearfully, as my foster brother, 12 year old Percy Jackson, tapped his thumbs away on a video game in the seat next to me.. right next to him.. my boyfriend, Master, and friend Shirou Emiya, around sixteen thanks to a temporary curse that stagnated his aging.. frowned at me.
"Saber, you look normal.. like.. even more normal than the usual normal for a girl.. seriously it'll be fine." said Shirou.
"This is NOT my style!" I shrieked.
My foster mother, Sally Jackson, turned her head to look back at me. "Oh come now.. you really think I would pick something embarrassing for you to wear? You look so pretty! I gather many boys will be jealous of Shirou once they get a look at you."
I muttered something about boys that probably would've make every guy in Camp Half-Blood shed a tear.
"Just try... please, it's Paul's school, he pulled plenty of strings to get you in here." said Mother. "You did promise you'd try to get along with him didn't you? and of course you have other things to look forward to.. afterwords Annabeth is meeting you right?"
I frowned as I remembered my Mother's boyfriend. Truth was, I actually did like him. He had a good natured enthusiasm to him, as well as an interest in history that I found endearing. He was one of those few men left in the 21st century I deemed might be noble enough to serve as a Knight in my Court.. given he could wield a sword okay.. And yeah, mother was right.. meeting Annabeth afterwords to hang out was actually a nice prospect.
"And you too Mordred.. you promised you'd try too.." said Mother.
Mordred, my artificially cloned sister slash son slash daughter slash.. I don't know let's just call her my sister.. was attempting to appear invisible in the front seat, her arms folded.
"I look like a freaking girl.." Mordred grumbled
"You ARE a girl." said Percy.
"Shut it Seaweed Brain." Mordred said.
"Well I'll be dead before I allow you to wear the usual exposition of so much skin to your first day at school." said Mother. "This school has a dress code, and you will adhere to it.."
"Grrrmmblle snmmmble.. " Mordred muttered before opening the door and jumping out. I followed, slinking out the door.
The two of us indeed looked... well.. normal.. but it wasn't a type of normal I was used to.
I wore skinny jeans with a butterfly design etched on the back pocket, a black blouse top with exposed shoulders, and my hair was tied in a pony tail with a black ribbon.
Mordred on the other hand, in place of her usual rogueish looking tube top and shorts, wore a blue denim skirt, and a white tan top with red flowers sewed into the design. Mother had forcefully combed her hair so it was at a slightly straight shoulder length style, instead of combing and leaving the pony tail which might make us look too much alike (honestly I think our hair is the only way people can tell us apart from face alone.)
"I look like a freaking Fairy Princess!!" Mordred growled as Shirou got out of the car and checked his phone.
"That's what you get for trying to come in a bikini and cutt off jeans.. " muttered Shirou. "Honestly.."
