Getting ready for our journey into the Labyrinth felt like getting ready to roll for a Mobile Gacha Game. We were spending tons of money on in game currency to roll a lottery, with very slim chances for getting what we want, a high chance for getting nothing but Craft Essences, and a slightly low chance for getting low rarity characters that probably wouldn't do much.
We were packing supplies left and right while trying to stay light on those same supplies at the same time, not sure what we'd face.
According to Annabeth, the myriad of traps and dangers the Labyrinth bore were so varied and different, that there really was no telling what we might run into... we might get caught in a whirlpool.. fight a three headed dragon.. or maybe even die by drowning in multiplying cheeseburgers (if we're going to die, please let that be the means of death, I'll die with a full belly.. or as close to one as I can get..)
Bedivere was like a nagging mother, stuffing random things in my bag like bug repellent, food, flashlights, more food, my stuffed lion, more food, my lion's grooming kit (don't laugh at me), more food.. and.. food.. well.. lots of food, which I guessed was a necessity.
Annabeth had retreated into her cabin, muttering to herself, making calculations and plans.
Tyson and Mordred went off somewhere together as well, and I found them in the Arts and Crafts building, creating what appeared to be Mordred's dream arsenal.. with Mordred gleefully showing Tyson crayon drawings of various things with lots of swords, guns and lasers and asking if he knew how to make it.. and Tyson would be clapping his hands gleefully too, happy to do what he was best at, which was forging.
After watching those two go at it, I had a strange feeling we were going end up bringing a miniature battleship down into the maze with us..
Grover was spotted talking with Juniper, whose face looked fearful. I was guessing she was not taking Grover's decision to go into an underground death trap as very heartening.
As for me and Atalanta.. well.. due to me being a daughter of Artemis and all, Atalanta had taken it upon herself to be my big sister, and decided to train me on hunting.
"Umm.. I'm not sure I would be very efficient with a bow.." I muttered as I took the silver bow Noble Phantasm that my mother had given me upon her claiming me.
"Hunting is about patience and sportsmanship.." said Atalanta. "You never usually need to waste more than one arrow.. you hit in precisely the right spot.. and then stalk your prey until it dies of it's wound.. making sure to keep other thieving carnivores away.. "
"That sounds boring.." I muttered.
"Wasn't Hunting a most revered sport in Camelot?" asked Atalanta.
"Well.. of course.. but we never took so long with hunting." I said. "I usually took Excalibur and wiped out an entire section of forest.. and there.. multiple dead animals.. "
"HAAAH!?" Atalanta stared at me, stunned.
"What.. ? Did.. I do something wrong regarding the nature of hunting?" I asked feeling confused. "is there some bit of etiquette I overlooked?"
"D.. Didn't your knights ever say anything about your hunting method!?" stammered Atalanta.
"Well.. Agravain always said.. 'good job, most impressive my King..' " I said.
"Well.. i guess it was impressive in it's own way.." muttered Atalanta, a bead of sweat trickling down her forehead. "But.. you are learning the hunting skills of your mother.. not... the Much Ex, and Much Calibur method.."
"Well Caliburn can only target single units.." I said. "Perhaps I should use it like a Hunting Rifle?"
"No.. please.. let us stick with the bow."
