We found ourselves in what looked like a massive factory of some sort.. well if the factory were hyped up with Celestial Bronze.. like.. EVERYTHING.
There was a Celestial Bronze Toyota Corolla being held up with one of those car lift things, with a sliding wheeled table next to it which I ALSO don't know the name to (I don't think the Holy Grail ever provided information on car mechanics... hmmm..)
There were large bellows with flames blowing everywhere, blueprints for various machines.. and parts for Automatons sat on multiple work benches.
Under what appeared to be a massive bronze chevy, a man in oil stained mechanics clothing was lying down, working, grunting.
As we entered the workshop, the little spider-bot scuttled over to the man who rolled himself out from under the vehicle and chuckled, letting it hop onto his palm as he stood up.
The man had a large beard that looked as if some flames ignited in it from time to time.. if I had to compare him to something, I'd say he was a very rough around the edges version of Hagrid... wearing a mechanics outfit of course.. so.. er.. Gruff Mechanic Hagrid? Not sure if any of you read Harry Potter, so I'll just say this guy is a huge mountain man with embers occasionally on the beard.
He took off his gloves, revealing well callused hands as he fiddled with the wiring on the little bronze bot.
The spider did a happy flip and scuttled off Hephaestus's hand jumping onto a table and scuttling away.
The god sighed and looked at us, raising his bushy eyebrows. "Well, well.. who would've thought.. Arturia Pendragon and her merry band of ruffians here in my forge... "
I gave Hephaestus a polite bow as Annabeth stepped forward. "Please.. er.. Sir.. umm.."
"Oh dispense with the grovelling, I'm too tired for that.." Hephaestus muttered as he took a seat at one of his benches. Thankfully, he wasn't in full sized Olympian form, so this casualness sort of put me at ease... sort of .. "Out with it.. why are you here? Did Eurytion send you? How is that boy?"
"He's fine. " said Annabeth. "Look.. we need you help to find somebody.. we need to find-.."
"Daedalus?" said Hephaestus.. "obvious much? What with the war starting at your little camp.. hmph.. figured as much.. you organics and your little wars.. I never understood people too well.. now machines.. tinker with em a little.. fix em up... easy!... humans.. well.. different matter."
Hephaestus glared at Mordred, but it wasn't an angry glare.. I got the feeling he tended to glare at everything as a normal look. It seemed envious. "I'm still wondering how YOU did it...?"
"Did what Geezer?" said Mordred.
Grover gasped in horror and bowed quickly. "Sh.. SHE DIDN'T MEAN IT LORD HEPHAESTUS!!"
"But he looks old!" said Mordred with a shrug.
"SHUT UP!!" Grover squealed, covering the oblivious Mordred's mouth.
"HAHAHAHA! It's okay! I like that.. you've got screws girl.. none of them are loose, but they're screwed into some pretty bold places on your blueprint I'll give you that much!" said Hephaestus, shaking his head and laughing. "I meant how you managed to patch things up with King Girl over here... I used to think you and me were alike Knight of Rebellion.. no idea how to communicate with others.. social outcasts.. but.. you're not the same anymore.."
"Nah.. guess I kinda learned a bit, grew a bit.." said Mordred, giving Hephaestus a curious look. "You could too ya know Mechanic Geezer!"
"Hmmm.." Hephaestus sighed. "Perhaps. But in any case.. helping you lot on your little quest.. and.. of course, Hera told me about your desire to find your brother.."
