Grover said his goodbyes to us not long after that.. intending to make a trip for Yellowstone...

"I'll contact you soon as I can.. promise.." Grover said, before he shouldered his large pack and trotted over the hill..

I hoped so.. I didn't want Grover ending up in another Polyphemus situation.. but somehow.. my gut told me he would be okay.. he wasn't the same Satyr he was before.. that was certain..

So finally.. that left just me and Annabeth on the last day of camp.. staring down the hill as cars came to pick various campers up, except for the Year Rounders..

Shirou and Rin were Iris Messaging Mother.. (and possibly making plans for me and Percy's birthday party.. they couldn't fool me.. not with Rin's inability to keep a straight face.. )

Annabeth sighed.. "Well.. till next year right.. or sooner..considering things.."

"Annabeth.." I asked. "What was the last line of the prophecy.. ?"

"Saber... you.. don't want to.."

"You didn't say it before.. but I know there was a line you didn't mention.." I muttered. "You shall dwell in the darkness of an endless maze.. yes.. we did that.. The Dead, The Traitor.. and the Lost One Raise.. that referred to the ghosts, Nakamura, and Pan... The Spear of Surya shines in the night.. referred to how Karna helped me recover Excalibur in a state better than ever.. A tale of Vengeance must one make right.. hmm.. I am unsure as to that.. perhaps it talked about Daedalus's hatred.. I'd assume probably.. you will rise or fall by the Ghost King's hand.. it was Nico.. he helped us.. the Child of Athena's final stand.. it was talking about Daedalus... and Destroy with a Final Breath.. that was Daedalus killing the maze... but there's.. hmm.."

I narrowed my eyes.. "There's always something that rhymes in the end.. "

"And Lose a Friend to a Fate worse than Death.." Annabeth said quietly.

I stared. It all made sense now. "Th.. that's why you wanted so many of us on that quest.. you.."

Annabeth bowed her head. "I didn't know which one of you it could mean..I was scared Saber.. scared of losing all of you.. and when that volcano blew.. and when you went after Kronos.. I..."

"But it wasn't any of us in the end.. in the end.. it was Luke.." I whispered.

Annabeth nodded. "You loved him.. didn't you?"

I closed my eyes. "Once.. perhaps there are still feelings buried deep down.. but my heart belongs to Shirou.. now and forever.. though I cannot deny.. this hurts.. seeing him the way he is now.. as Kronos's host.."

Annabeth bowed her head. "I failed Saber.. I failed worse than any other.. I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for, my dear." Standing on the hill was a tall woman in a white dress, her dark hair braided over her shoulder.

"Hera," Annabeth said.

The goddess smiled. "You found the answers, as I knew you would. Your quest was a success."
"A success?" Annabeth said. "Luke is gone. Daedalus is dead. Pan is dead. How is that—"

"Our family is safe," Hera insisted. "Those others are better gone, my dear. I am proud of you."

"Safe..?" I muttered, feeling my anger rise. "SAFE!? Is .. THAT all you care about..? THE OTHERS ARE BETTER GONE!?"

Hera shrugged. "It isn't a big deal... I apologize for Geryon by the way, I paid him to let you through.. but he got greedy in the end.. he only needed have kept the son of Hades and his silly Lancer.."
