We had casualties, there was no denying. I knew we would, it was impossible not to with our forces numbering at so few...
While we had lost none of our Servants, some of them were severely injured.
Among them was Kiyohime, who had gotten an entire arm blasted off by Spartacus after trying to defend Travis Stoll.
Travis could only stare at the mumbling unconscious Kiyohime as Nightingale tended to her. "i.. I never really bothered to get to know her.. cause.. she always scared me.. "
"Nightingale says she might be able to reattach the arm.. Servants are made of stronger stuff than normal humans. "I said.
"Yeah.. " Travis muttered. "hey.. you know.. Kiyo... is actually pretty cute.."
Knowing what Kiyohime was famous for, I patted Travis's shoulder uneasily. "Er.. you.. might want to think LONG and hard before you head down that road.."
Liz had also sustained bad injuries, after being bandaged up, she and Mordred were set up in the Big House to recover, being fed a steady dose of Ambrosia and Nectar..
However, even with our fellow Servants getting some bad hits.. normal humans always bit the dust harder..
Castor, one of the two Dionysus kids, had died, his brother looking grief stricken as he helped burn his burial shroud. A few of the satyrs and Dryads had been killed too, the Satyrs that died were reincarnated into various baby plants and planted in the forest..
There were plenty of other close calls too.. Bazett had sustained some serious spear wounds while she and Cu had helped Nico and Annabeth defend the Fleece, and Sakura, who I didn't think should have EVER been involved in the fight considering her quiet and gentle personality, had a severe head injury and blood loss.. resulting in Medusa, filled with tears, begging all our medical volunteers in the Hermes Cabin, along with Nightingale, to save Sakura at all costs.
I had seen worse casualties.. and even worse injuries.. I had seen my fellow knights killed in particularly gruesome ways.. but.. even this.. even this always unsettled me.. but I did what I always did after every battle back when I was king..
Visit the injured, grieve the dead with my fellows.. and when all was said and done.. sit down and clean my blade quietly..
As I sat on the side of Half Blood Hill... wiping a cloth over the trusty bronze blade I had borrowed, Karna sat next to me..
"Me and Nico will be leaving after a while.. After we have seen to helping the wounded." said Karna.
"No.. stay.. please." I said.
Karna shook his head. "It is as he told me.. Hades is not welcome at this camp.. any more than he is on Olympus.. he will not fit in.. as much as I hate to admit it.. plus.. Nico has some very interesting ideas on how to defeat Kronos.. and how Luke managed to gain the necessary power to house the Titan lord.."
"I see.." I said. I knew better now then to try to convince Nico.. as much as I hated to admit it. "But.. should you ever need it.. should he ever need it.. I will always be there for him.. he can come to me.."
Karna smiled. "I owe you a great debt Arturia.. Nico found me wandering the maze.. feral.. maddened by the curse of Zeus.. but.. he freed me.. he is my master.. and you have protected him with the same love that his father has never given him.. allow me to give you this gift.. as repayment.. "
As Karna said this, Hephaestus strolled out of nowhere, holding a cloth wrapped around something...
"You?" I said, feeling confused.
